Hey SunRaes! Just wanted to make a correction to this video. After speaking with UFD personally, I did find that the Curl Stimulator contains glycerin. They said that they are currently in the process of updating their website and labels. Sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused.
@kjeneen79
@kjeneen79 3 жыл бұрын
Yes they just recently changed their formula. But you can still find the glycerin free formula out there. I'm mad about the changes they have made. Also there are products with glycerin that actually fight humidity. An example of that is Ouidad's Anti-humidity gel. It is all about the formulation. Those gels include humectants to hold in the moisture and anti-humectants to keep the humidity from affecting your hair.

Remember to watch out for the other humectants in these products too. If you find a product that doesn't say glycerin in the ingredients and your hair still gets puffy and frizzy in humid climates, it's because you over looked the other names for glycerin and the other humectants that might be in the product

Kinky curly has to be fully dry before you go out in humidity or it will be sticky forever in your hair. Better in winter in my opinion

Loved this! You look so pretty, as always! I also looove to layer a gel (Curlsmith Flexi Jelly) over the stickier botanical gels - that's been a game changer for me! Curl Junkie Pattern Pusha is an excellent glycerin free gel (also free of coconut & protein). Its consistency is similar to UFD. The Curlsmith Flexi Jelly has a teeny bit of glycerin at the end of the ingredients, but it's my HG & perfect over Pattern Pusha & also over Curlmaker & other botanicals. I wish Alikay made Creme Brulee without the neon dye. Haha, I love your reallife moments! 🌞😂🌞

Thank you! I've never tried Curlsmith. What consistency is the Flexi Jelly? I tried Patten Pusha when I had a twa and I think I liked it, but that was years ago. I may need to revisit it. I agree with you on the Creme Brulee, and Alikay's other products as well. The dyes I can do without. Thanks for watching and sharing your favorite gels.

@@NaturalRaeRae My pleasure! The Curlsmith Flexi Jelly has a consistency that is loose but not runny or watery, kind of like Bounce Curl Gel but more moisturizing & without buildup. Pattern Pusha has a softer hold but is just a great easy gentle gel for day to day & when you don't want to be doing the most. The Curlsmith Flexi Jelly has a fresh fruity scent, kind of like green apples & lemons. Pattern Pusha has a light cucumber-y scent, but neither linger. I'm excited for you to be shopping for your stash! xo

Rae, I watched of your older videos. I don’t remember which one but you suggested changing to a liquid leave in with a gel that was flaking. This reminded me of a Facebook video I saw where a lady would mix her leave in and gel in the palm on her hand to see if they blended well or if they curdled with clumps like cottage cheese. In your last video, I asked what leave-in works well with Uncle Funky’s Daughter Curly Magic. I tried the blending in my palm trick with my dozen or so 🙄 leave ins; you were right the only one Uncle Funky’s blended well with was Alikay Naturals Lemongrass spray leave-in.
@NaturalRaeRae
@NaturalRaeRae 3 жыл бұрын
I'm glad that suggestion worked for you. I know that I used the As I Am and Kinky Curly leave-ins with the UFD and those both worked for me. Another thing you can do is make sure that your hair is clarified of any build up because that could cause flaking as well. Thanks for sharing.

I think people are using a lot of leaving conditioners or creams with emulsifiers in them, and since that doesn't get absorbed by the hair. It just stays on top and then starts to flake off.

When I just went natural, I used to do wash and goes (don’t do them now), and used the Camille Rose Naturals gel, as everyone was raving about it, but I didn’t like it! I remembered it being too much of a wet texture for me, sticky, and my hair took ages to dry! Might try again (for a twist out) and see if my hair likes it now.

Either people really like it, or they don't. It is a thinner consistency, much like the Camille Rose Curl Maker. It has more moisture than the Camille Rose, in my opinion, and it defines a little better to me. However, I do top it with a harder holding gel, like Wetline or Eco. It gives me a softer, fluffier wash and go but still has definition.

I just found out why my hair is so stinking Sahara dessert dry (ever since my journey began in May, I might add). I just finished all of my experimentation... RESULT? I live in the south, and it's the GLYCERIN! So I've watched this again with a renewed eye on things. I wonder what else is making my hair dry? And now I have to give up UFD Curl Stimulator. It's a sad day in the neighborhood. Next on my list of experiments is silicons and all the other "cones". :(
@NaturalRaeRae
@NaturalRaeRae 2 жыл бұрын
If your atmosphere is dry, yes, glycerin can dry out your hair. You have to be very strategic when you use glycerin, especially when it's high up on the ingredients list. Keep listening to your hair and making adjustments; that's part of the journey. 😊

SAME! I live in South Florida where the dew points are 73 nearly year round and I CANNOT use glycerin! It absolutely makes my hair dry and puffy! So I’ve started making my own DIYs because even castor oil and honey act like glycerin. By default, since I DIY, I don’t use silicones so that I don’t have to worry about using a commercial shampoo to get them out.

What are your thoughts on UFD updating the ingredient label for Curly Magic? It now says it includes glycerin, but UFD says the ingredients haven't changed.

I looked on their website and the ingredients list did not include glycerin, so I am not sure where that is coming from. I looove UFD curly magic! I have type 4 hair and it's a perfect hold for me when I use it alone. Can get 5 days with my wash and go.
