I’m a cosmetologist and currently growing out my color damage 🙃 it happens 🤷🏽♀️ natural hair can be very fragile/sensitive depending on your hair elements. In my opinion, bleach will damage your hair overtime no matter how well you take care of it. Some of us just don’t mind taking that risk lol

real question because I have bleach also. How is it that ppl can retain length with relaxers but not bleach? I want to go blonde again, but I wasn't able to retain the length that was colored that last time.

I had bleached hair for years, literally 8 years, and I know a lot of people say that you can care for bleached hair, but if your hair is a level 6 or lower, it will break, it doesn't matter how well you care for it, it will break at some point, I loved it, but it's the sad sad true

Same thing happened to me 😭 I double bleached in 1 day tryna get that copper ginger, completely clueless to the damage till my hair grew out. Roots was giving fro, ends on ramen noodles, just embarrassing 😭 lesson learned. I’ll stick with the L’Oreal hi color and no more double processing 😂 also I used to color only 1-2x a year & now I’ll start coloring more often like 3-4x so the processing time will be way faster since it’ll be closer to the roots and thus less damaging.

Mine was fine til it wasn’t. And I’m someone who’s hair is so strong and healthy it bounces back even from high heat very well even after I dyed it. Like a bone straight silk press leaves very little damage if any. But a little of a year and a half in I noticed changes and I’ve started cutting mine off too to restart the process. It happens to everyone eventually and you’ll start to notice in how long it seems like it’s taking your hair to grow or maintain length because it’s breaking off after awhile.
@chloeyorke256010 ай бұрын
I had a blonde phase too. I didn’t experience damage to the extent of breakage, but it COST me big time. I had regular professional appointments, frequent trims and switched all my “regular” products to professional ones and had to minimize heat to almost zero. So although it made my day to day maintenance easier (because my higher porosity was so easy to moisturize and frizz was so little), it surely affected my finances lol. I eventually decided to cut my hair into a pixie after neglecting my hair (I was going thru some thangs 🥴) and now that I’m starting over, I don’t know if I’ll go back to blonde. It was SO fun, but I’d rather color some extensions before committing like that again! Can’t wait to watch your journey 😍

I’m right here with you I bleached my mids to ends (after it had already been previously dyed) and the the front of my hair I bleached to the root which definitely caused breakage. it’s now been 15 1/2 months and the color is now on the very ends of my hair and it’s back at its normal density. I love my natural color (which is basically jet black), but I already know I want to dye it red😭 with the hi color highlights because even tho it’s a high lift my hair handles it way better than bleach (although I am not in a rush to do it yet).

Released so much stress and energy however the process wasn’t always easy most day I loved my short hair and it taught me how to heal from certain traumas and stereotypes like the ones saying black women can’t grow their hair or they look masculine with short hair and it taught me how to embrace my beauty when the world hates it however their were other days were i wished I had dem inches to do a slick back it was a battle between desire and appreciating what I have and honestly a blessing now I see I pray for you journey and that God blessed you with clarity because hair is more then hair especially for black girls like me it’s part of our temple 💛💛🌞🌻🌳🌳🌻🌻🌞

I knew someone with very short natural hair that she bleached blond. She would wake up with broken off pieces of blond hair on her pillowcase in the morning. I’m not sure if she was using oils or how well she was taking care of her hair, but still. 😮 Even darker dyes will damage hair and make it dryer. Semi and demi-permanent dyes too. Of course, the higher you take your color up the more damage it will do, but *nothing* is as healthy as 100% natural. I speak from experience.

I wanted to color my hair honey blonde but I was told I needed to bleach it buuuut I don't want to go that route, so I was thinking about dark burgundy but it wouldn't go well with my red uniform so my only other choice is black and that makes me look so much older. What should I do? Wash n go is the only style I kinda get right. but it would be the ideal budget frirendly one versus Box braids I think.

I had to stop dying and bleaching to save the life of my hair. I ended up trimming out the red I had.

Hi, I’m currently growing my hair out, and it’s now about armpit length. I’m tempted to color it a reddish blonde but want to ensure I do it in the healthiest way possible. My hair is low porosity, and my goal is to grow it as long as I can without undoing the progress I’ve made. Do you think it’s possible to achieve this, or resist the temptation? Thank you for your advice!
