I thought the trooper made a mistake of not patting the guy down prior to searching the truck. The guy could have pulled out a gun while he's got his back turned searching the truck.

I'm a 64 year old over the road Truck driver. I've been driving for 46 years. Born and raised In Arkansas. Had my share of tickets and then some. We have always had the BEST state troopers ever assembled In one state. I'm sure there are a couple of bad ones, but I have never had dealings with one. GREAT RESPECT FOR OUR TROOPERS, even when they nailed me.

My boys are both truck drivers and own trucks… They don’t even drink, except Friday and Saturday nights, all day Sunday is recovering day !!! They won’t even take strong pain meds with codine in it incase they get pulled over !!! That’s the way to behave as a truck driver !!! I am just amazed at how this guy’s gait and behaviour changed over the course of the stop !!! He walks worse than I do and I need both knees replaced, if he’s so bad, why is he still driving trucks ??? He is a danger to everyone else on the road if he needs to resort to heavy duty drugs to drive !!!

i am a retired truck driver, and that is my nephew cletus who got arrested. i taught him better than that. i taught him when you drink and drive, stay out of the fast lane, keep it in the far right lane and maintain that lane. if you cannot maintain your lane, then do a line of meth, that will make you more alert. damn rookies...trucking ain't what it used to be...

Well as a former truck driver, over the road 18 wheeler, this driver just lost his job and his license for good. When you are a driver you cannot have a BAC of over 0.04, they can also arrest you for intent to operate a commercial vehicle while under the influence. Though it is sad that the driver did this to himself for whatever reason, he also knows the consequences for his actions. I am sure the Trooper didn't want it to be true but the facts showed otherwise. Good job Trooper, please stay safe and may God Bless you and your Family.

I'm fortunate to personally know a few of them and they would seriously do anything for anyone, always putting everyone else before themselves and you just can't train that. Agreed. My guess is that this driver was taking pain killers, the good stuff, and it says on the bottle may cause drowsiness, be careful when operating machinery, which includes driving. It was stupid to blame the wind, as one watches the 18 wheeler boxes going by and the wind would affect a box unit more than a flatbed. There was no movement out of the lane on the boxes. This driver bought himself a lot of trouble. When he started to get sleepy, it was his responsibility to pull off the highway, and find a place to bed down , before he dozes off and causes a wreck. For all those defund the police morons out there, one may learn from this video. The next life this Trooper saves, may be yours.

When used as prescribed at a tolerable level, opiates don't cause this level of impairment, he has clearly taken more than usual or is self medicating with something other than prescribed. There's no way his employer and Dr. would have him driving for a living if his prescribed medication left him this impaired. This injury happened 34 years ago, his pain regiment is well established.

That trooper is a class act. I myself am a Lieutenant of a smaller PD (60 total on patrol, 4 shifts, so 15 per shift). Yeah this man wasn't completely honest, but who would be in his situation, yet he is more than cooperative. In that case, allow the cuffs to the front, allow him to have a drink, to have a smoke. The only thing that made me cringe a little, professionally, is when he went into the truck with his back truned (and you can see him sense this when he sees the guy walking up asking for his smokes). You simply never know what can happen, even with a quick pat down. I would have another officer (trooper in this case) on scene before I did that. Outside of that, and that is nit picking, this trooper did so amazing, that I may even show my subordinate officers this clip. How to handle someone that has obviously broken the law, but is more than cooperative about it, so no need to treat them badly.
@aaronz9410
@aaronz9410 2 жыл бұрын
I will also add this, hopefully the man can get the help he truly needs, and also admit that he needs it (that is the key). Seems like a great guy that has been caught up in addiction. Truly the sad truth to so many people, addiction grabs them, and makes good people do things they never would think about otherwise.

What DOT exam are you guys taking?, must be a company exam. There is absolutely no requirement by DOT to lift, pull or do a mobility test for DOT physical. Obviously he is doing flatbed just fine or he would not be hauling it, 😂. I have two broken ankles, and walk with a pronounced limp and I have done flatbed for 25 years. A limp is not a disqualifier, nor is a missing limb, I have seen drivers with a missing hand, they just receive a medical waiver. I don't get a waiver and I refuse the handicapped placard, but I run circles around most of the kids playing flatbed trucker, tarping, chaining, it's part of the job and I will do it until I can't walk.

Too bad this trooper won’t see these messages. He was polite from the start, giving his name, his hat not over his eyes, (a way back trick from when my husband was in law enforcement) and his tone of voice was kind. There are so many jerk cops out there and they wonder why people hate them. There is no reason to come off like that from the start. I know when I have been stopped for speed, I am not a criminal, and typically shaking in my boots! (Yeah, married to a cop and I still get upset) It is easy enough to be kind, until you have to be firm.Anyway, what a great example he is. Had to come back and add how sharp his uniform looks. I used to iron my husbands shirts and pants and the pleats were a pain. Some of the brass went on the pleats, so they had to be exact. This guy looks sharp!

Not saying he's in the right just a really hard thing to live sober when you have wired your brain to be high. I have struggled with drugs my whole life and even lost my mom when she was only 44 of an OD. The only reason I say this is no telling what kind of life this driver has had. He has lived rough no doubt and just know even though its a choice this kind of life is hard on folks and there still normal people like anyone else. Most truly mean no harm and are just trying to survive. I'm glad the officer was decent. Prayers for all

I’ve been a truck driver now going on 22 years and I’ve dealt with a lot of prick DOT officers and state troopers for inspections as a driver you should never ever submit to any field sobriety tests under any circumstance! The results of those test are NEVER to help you in any way. With that being said I’ve never received a ticket, never been in any wrecks and have never had license suspended or revoked. I personally know 4 drivers 1 in Mississippi and 3 in Tennessee that were pulled over at night and were charged with a felony dui and the breathalyzer results were 0.00,0.001,0.00 and 0.00 and they were arrested and charged even though the were not under the influence

I've been driving a damn semi truck OTR truck driver for over 32 years. Working on 33 and I've seen a bunch of drivers get arrested because of drugs messing with a lot lizards which us truck drivers call them a lot lizards in their cores. Never had a thing for that. Damn sure haven't had a thing for drugs or alcohol and I've never felt a drug test or an alcohol test and I'll never fail a drug test or an alcohol test. They say never say never. I'm saying never it won't happen because I've got too much integrity. Too much dignity. I think too much of myself to wreck a career and trucking that I highly enjoy. And if you get arrested DUI or you fell a drug test or you get arrested with drugs, you should never drive a truck again. You should never be behind the wheel of a semi If you don't have any more respect for yourself than that. Just for yourself, the hell with the public then you don't belong out here and I don't feel sorry for you and they should charge you to the full extent of the law. Take your CDL from you and every damn thing else if they can cuz you don't deserve to have anything put everybody else's life in danger to hell with your life cuz you already don't care about it but to put other people's lives at stake because you're ignorant and stupid and you know what they say. The people you hang around with says a lot about who you are so don't put it off on anybody else when it's you. That's just an excuse. That's chicken s*** another driver bites the dust and it'll never drive a truck again. I'll guarantee he'll never drive again past history and what he just got caught again or the same. Damn thing you'll never drive a truck again. It just by looking at it he don't have a damn thing. I guarantee he ain't got damn thing spends it all on drugs. Stupid. Just stupid. Threw away a great career at 52 years old. Hell if you ain't learned nothing by the time you're 52 years old you ain't going to learn a damn thing
