Love seeing the new episode, Im doing my first SO run myself so it's nice to kinda play alongside ;) One thing I did want to ask is why don't you simply vent the CO2 to space? A gas pump can remove more CO2 than a skimmer, plus you save on filtration medium that way. Also, by managing what branches grow on an arbor tree, you can have a pip wild plant 2 trees on 3 tiles and make them fit with all branches. Using that you could potentially have a second ranch on the floor above the existing ranch! Just some food for thought :) EDIT: Nevermind! You took out the natural tiles :')
@LilTikiBoy Жыл бұрын
In my playthrough I'm actually thinking about trying to use the CO2 geyser to cool an infinite food storage since it comes out at -55 degrees. I know it's not a lot, but if I can get a metal tile in a vacuum down low enough using my slush geyser first then maybe it will be enough to keep just my food below -18 degrees. Also, if I were you I would go to the other planet first because I'm not sure if you're going to have enough metal ore for a rocketry program if you don't. Especially if you wanna keep feeding the smooth hatchlings as well.

A quick tip with the water. The brine tank is always being refilled so always pump water from this tank. Add piping to warm the cold brine by routing it backwards and forwards through the salt water and water tanks then desalinate it. This will give you more time before the system needs a heater or another heating method. You can claim back the automation materials and the pumps in the saltwater and water tank.

Use wood to make food. Replant the nature reserve with arbor trees and feed all your wood into ethanol distillers. you won't be able to burn the ethanol yet due to super sustainable, but it will provide you with polluted dirt, which can be fed to sanishells. "Etcetera" basically translates as "and so on to the rest." It's inclusive of other, similar things, but stops there. The difference between saying it once and saying it twice is that when you say it once, you're saying "and so on to the rest (of the set or group)." Whereas when you say it twice, you're saying "and so on to the rest of of the set, and so on to other sets." It's a result of the subtle bits of the loanword that a lot of people don't really learn.
@EchoRidgeGaming Жыл бұрын
This is a well educated response. Thank you.

You know, you're so close to space right there in the middle you could just start venting some/all of the CO2 there. I had mine storing into tanks for a bit, but I filled four tanks to use for my data-mining rocket and my short trip one, then needed to move the sink lower due to harnessing a hydrogen vent lower than the sink used to be, so I ended up just extending that pipe system a little higher and lower and pumping it out. With the new snips I can just replace that one pipe segment and snip the other whenever my tanks get low. There's probably an even smarter way to do it involving bridges that you know of. I have difficulty visualizing how bridges change the flow.
@bob8mybobbob Жыл бұрын
For the longest time I always vented my CO2 into space, because I thought the carbon skimmer consumed water. Then I had a map where I could not stop the CO2 from turning to water and breaking my pipes, so I looked into the carbon skimmer again and realized it’s water neutral 🤦♀️

What I heard was: - You've got unlimited Thermally Differentiated Water - You've got unlimited Oxygen (requires sanitation & refinement) All you need is a regular Volcano at this point to produce Magma, and some Metal Volcanoes to produce Metals; otherwise, you've got immortality available to your Dupes, because you can survive on just O2 & H2O1 (Oxygen & Water). You might get Land-Locked, where you will require deconstructing a portion of your base to construct your space rocket; though, if you pace yourself: you should be able to refine enough metal to construct enough material to operate your base effectively, especially once you start building with your Steam Generators converting your thermal excess over to power; is Carbon Dioxide useful for anything in this game? Because if you've got a Thermal Heat Sink, you can re-cool your Carbon Dioxide stockpile down near your magma biome. If I had this game, I'd totally livestream it.
