Yes big difference between a pretty little lady bug and these Asian lady beetles is what most do not understand. I did not know about the beetles til recently. Now our home is being taken over by them. They do bite and it HURTS. Keep all your native lady bugs safe if you want for your garden but kill the beetles any way you can! They are the reason you’re only seeing a lady bug here and there and not often. I’m going to try the water,light and Dawn for sure.

Thank you Mr. T. Yet another great video! Personally, I find that 1 in 30 or so are Native. This is concerning me. As a child I only saw the red, non-M beetles. And yes, their bites are painful. Squashing = very bad smells (to me.) To make matters worse, no matter what the government did or claims they did, these Asian beetles do NOT eat aphids. Not mine, anyhow. I have hundreds of these critters. Yet, I have thousands of aphids that tear into my gardens. Not once have I observed a predator of these aphids. Yesterday, I found a couple thousand aphids (dead) on my cabbages and sprouts. This is ONLY thanks to Neem Oil from the day prior. I watched them die by the spray, ha. Satisfying. Never seen any sort of lady bug on any vegetable I grow, yet I see them constantly in my home. By the way, I live in a log home. They seem to be attracted by yellow colors. I can't exactly change the color of my logs and keep them breathable, so I deal with it. Tried the water + dawn + light for these and for stink bugs. Nothing beats a vacuum cleaner for the ladies or a tissue + toilet for the stinkers. Just my experience and opinion.

@@natureatyourdoor Good to know. Unfortunately I live in the city and so I am limited. We had a crazy year with them. They are everywhere and I want to keep them close to home for my garden next year. I was thinking of turning a large ceramic plater on its side and placing the opening against my house (I presume it would be a bit warmer there?) & leaving a small space for them to crawl in and out of. I would fill the planter with leaves and greenery and maybe could even line it with a thick blanket. I just hope to keep them close by for next gardening season. I appreciate your insight. Thanks

All great questions...see my Asian Lady Beetles playlist for more...but I as well am having greatest infestation EVER! HUNDREDS DAILY indoors! Vacuuming daily. I remember in the fall on the west side of house in late afternoon sunshine their were thousands in the air ...so many we could not be outside. I am guessing pre invasion we should have treated all walls..vinyl siding and faux rock with either insecticide or natural deterrent oils. Apparently my efforts to "seal" outdoors failed.

Moved to Atlanta from southern California three years ago. About 13 months ago this became a problem for sure! For some reason I haven't had a problem with these guys in years. I wonder if it has to do with the safe all natural spray that I use to deter cockroaches, ants, and hornets from entering my home. A friend told me about cedercide and it's become an absolute game changer for me. It kills all insects and arachnids that it's ever been tested on including fleas and ticks which is why it's market for use on pets and sold at online pet product retailers. I use it for household pests, though. I've sprayed it in cracks and crevices around my home to keep roaches and ants out which has worked remarkably well. I haven't had a misguided hornet in my home in ages either. And I sprayed it on the floor beneath my dog kennel as well as the underside of the kennel tray to discourage the roaches that lived there in the past. And as far as I can tell it's worked against oretty much everything. It seems to linger too because I don't seem to have to reapply to the same place. The creatures don't seem to want to be in a sprayed area again. And it smells good. It's made with cedar oil so my place doesn't have a chemilal smell after I use it. It just smells like cedar for a while. I have caulked quite a bit too to try to keep my neighbors' cigarette smoke out, so that may be helping, too. Though, the smoke still comes in, so in theory the critters probably could still too. It's probably a combination of things that has kept most of the critters out of my home for a while. But I suspect the cedarcide that I've sprayed pretty much everywhere is a major factor in the lack of Asian lady beetles in my home. I hope this helps if anyone else wants to try it in their home.

HI! Thanks for sharing what work for you! Yes...most pest management requires an "integrated" approach to be effective. Sounds like you came up with a comprehensive plan!
@anyascelticcreations Жыл бұрын
@@natureatyourdoor Yep, it's pretty comprehensive. Lol. The landlord has a bug guy come to the building quarterly to check for roaches, too. I only have bate applied in my home but most of the other units are sprayed with insecticide, too. So, maybe that's helping to detour the asian lady beetles from hanging out in the building in general. If so, than it's even more of a comprehensive approach than I'd realized.
