Thank you for giving an honest review. It seems like Nature Hike gave up too much size for the sake of it being compact. I think they should make a bigger one because not everyone is the size of a model many companies use for demonstration and advertising. I think their sleeping bag would be a huge hit if only they made them bigger. There are far more campers and outdoorsmen/women today that are much larger than their tiny models that companies realize. Hope you don't get cold due to lack of sleeping bag size tonight.

You really hit the issue right on the head Alice. I would argue there are many of us that aren’t as small as these companies think. If Naturehike made a bigger one with the same technology put into it sales would be awesome!! You’re right there are more of us than them. Thanks so much for your thoughts my friend! Doug

Great review! Exactly, their products are great but they usually are a bit smaller then expected. Ok, I'm 6'2 and I guess their main market (if Chinese) is really not that large. Still, Naturehike is getting more and more adopters here in Brazil, probably because they a little more concerned than other Chinese companies regarding product quality. I'm becoming a real fan.

sorry, but you just ordered the wrong one, if the size is not good enough. the version you are reviewing, is the 5C 190x72cm version.. which is exactly correct. If you needed a bigger one, you should have ordered the 200x80cm which goes to limit -5c..

The size when compressed is great for backpacking but I understand about the chest size. It makes for a long night when your shoulders and arms are compressed also. I like the idea of the wide foot box. If they could just get the chest size a little wider. Thank for showing it Doug.

It's safe to say I'm a car camper these days, so weight isn't an issue for me. Thanks for the review. I slept in the CWM400 version of this bag at 14 degree celsius with only cotton underwear and socks, but I was cold... I get that a base layer is important, but since I slept at 14 degrees and wanted to test out the bag stimulating a colder temperature, so I slept without a base layer. Did I perhaps do something wrong considering how cold I was or does it just mean I'm a very cold sleeper?
@PinetreeLine3 жыл бұрын
Interesting Paul. Perhaps the amount of dampness in the air made a difference too. You could be a cold sleeper and require a little more warmth. I would suggest some base layer merino wool and cotton sleeping bag liner. Hope this helps. Appreciate you watching Paul! Doug

Manufacture says you can zip 2 together for a wider bag. Remember, it is made in china, so the sizes are asian, they do run smaller to US and Euro. Most people layer up, but with down, you should wear less, as the down reflect your body heat. If needed, put this bag inside of a fleece liner, not liner inside down. This is my experience. I have used this in 34 degree, 30mph wind and pouring rain in a hammock tent, hammock underquilt, klymit static V sleeping pad, tarp. I was toasty to where I had to strip off some clothing. Just FYI

Hey! I've been looking at this in khaki, but I'm skeptical it's 800 fill. You've only got to compare the size of other 800 fill goose down bags to understand why.. Nice short review, thanks for sharing.
@PinetreeLine4 жыл бұрын
Hey Rob, 800 fill power doesn’t account for the amount of insulation in the bag so I’d say you being skeptical is completely justified cause there can be cold spots. I judged the bag on its own merit and how it would or wouldn’t be useful for me. I never use the bag as a stand alone past that one night, only as a top quilt because of its size. So trust your instincts! Appreciate you watching! Doug
@TheNomadicTrader4 жыл бұрын
@@PinetreeLine nice one Doug. I just had a quick read and the fill power is quite confusing isn't it. I've seen this sleeping bag used with a thermal liner and a bivvy to add extra warmth for those colder nights. I'm not sure that would hold up in your climate though!
@PinetreeLine4 жыл бұрын
It is very confusing Rob and I’ve learned more about after making the video. So a bag with less fill power but more of it (Weight wise) in the bag would be warmer than one with a higher fill power but less of it, in terms of weight. So I can see why people are using it with a thermal liner and a bivy bag. You’re right, up here it’s really only useful as a part of your sleep system cause the shoulder seasons are cold and Winter is brutal.

Funny how when he first talked about the bag he said was it good for bigger guys because it was a rectangle. Then when he actually got in it, he realized it was a little constricting. I just bought this bag recently. I haven't used it, but I have got in it and I experienced that is was a bit small around my shoulders too (I'm 6 foot tall). To me, the low weight trade off is worth it. When I first opened it, I thought it was super thin. I have my doubts about its warmth in cold weather, but it seemed warm when I got inside.
@PinetreeLine5 жыл бұрын
Most rectangle sleeping bags are good for bigger guys and initially that’s what my first impressions were. As I did my review in real time, as opposed to after I used the bag, my first impressions were wrong about the sizing. Ultimately I continue to use this bag as an over quilt with other bigger sleeping bags. Unfortunately designers of ultralight sleeping bags are missing out on a large part of the camping market by not making truly bigger bags for bigger people. Thanks for watching! Doug

@@PinetreeLine They do make a larger version of this bag, it comes in 2 sizes, the one they sent you for this review is the regular size. www.amazon.com/Naturehike-1-28lbs-Ultralight-Power-Sleeping/dp/B07PHQR6J7/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1&psc=1

Mummy bags are the pits, I would love to say I'd get one of them but I'm allergic to feathers, so I'll shiver in my mummy bag a bit longer....dunno why you're complaining though, you can throw your beard over exposed bits ;) Great review though in a great location, will there be an 'overnight' video coming out soon?
@PinetreeLine6 жыл бұрын
My beard can make up for exposed bits lol. Yes there definitely will be some overnights coming up! Appreciate you watching brother! Doug

You're kidding me Doug. That's wafer thin. I thought if that works in 2C then I'll take my hat off. Well hats off for the warmth test. All the best. Mark
@PinetreeLine6 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t joke about something on a review my friend. I wouldn’t know about 2 degrees Mark but it worked at 5 degrees. Big difference between 5 and 2 as you know brother!! Thanks for watching! Doug

I thought the same thing about the thickness at the beginning. But remember, it was the first time the bag had been out of the compression sack. It needed time outside of the sack for the loft. I doubt the bag was that thin when bedtime came around.

Beautiful scenery, as always Doug. You live in A splendid looking place sir. I hope everyone is well up North. Nice looking product, seems to keep you warm enough also. Zipper questionable, and if you got large shoulders, slight inconvenience. At least you said nothing about A large belly, being A problem. That would be my problem, LOL. Great product review, Peace, John.

Does this have 2 zipper sliders? Can top & bottom both be unzipped with the side still zipped? Sometimes my feet get hot and I like to vent the bottom. Thanks!
@PinetreeLine4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there is only one zipper slider so you would not be able to get the bottom open only to vent your foot area. Thanks for watching! Doug

@stacksmasher5 жыл бұрын
For what these cost you are better off getting a few down quilts from Costco and binding the corners together.
@PinetreeLine5 жыл бұрын
I hear ya! Consumers always have options. Appreciate you watching!! Doug
@AJHart-eg1ys5 жыл бұрын
Good luck with that. I don't think Costco has sold those quilts in over a year, and I believe even then they were only selling them in two-packs. it's almost like word got around so they decided to try to capitalize on it by forcing customers to pay at least $45 anytime they wanted to buy a quilt. Then, they disappeared.
