Limited palette: how to mix neutrals | Sketching a fox in watercolor

I have always been terrible at water colors, but I just got a starter paint set at the art store. For Christmas I got the nature journaling by John Law. I volunteer at my state museum. So I want to make a blog about what I do at the museum and teach how to nature draw for a nature journal. Great video!

I think the fox is a lovely color. I cannot find transparent sienna in any of the paint brands. Is it the same as Quinacridone sienna??

As far as I know Schmincke has a very transparent version of their yellow ochre (which is basically the same hue).

I've actually been working from a seven color palette as well, however I went with a traditional split primary and burnt sienna. Do you find the green is more useful than the warm red?

Ah that's great. I guess it depends on what you need more in your paintings. I often adapt these small palettes for each season. :-)

Yes, that's right, although I mainly use it when I need white or light grey. :)
