Love this, thanks Tom, great tutorial as always - as an alternative, I left my cord a little longer and pushed the ends down through the middle to the bottom, cut, then pushed them back in to hide them ;-)

Very well done, everything is clear, the speed is neither too fast nor too slow! And I like the moves you showed, and the combinations of the elements, as the braiding and the knotting itself was not new to me.

S Relatively easy to follow John.. I learn from your videos, so thank you so much. One request however, please speak louder. Even with my iPad at full speaker, it is difficult to hear you. Thank you again.

This is called a lanyard braid. I have been working with this braid for more than 45 years and I have never seen anyone take this approach to tying the knots. There is a hard way and this is it.

so I guess this can be scaled up to make a proper fender for a boat with manilla rope. If you need a thicker fender then simply add some bulk to the inside of the centre?

from 5:32, isn't that a hexagon stitch but going at the opposite direction, going backward?
@lesliebehringer23726 жыл бұрын
I followed this, but was all the way at the end of my paracord and waiting to see how you finished it off before I realized you had weaved the fender back over the braid. That really wasn't clear to me until the end.

This is so so annoying. it looks so easy to do I bought the rope and the fid and now I find it too hard to do. I'm trying to do it with the same colour rope that might be the problem. will have to get some different colours to make it easier. pulling my hair out here.

If using one colour. Get some whitr decorators tape n mark each end with a number or felt tip a colour. You'll do it. Dont try anything easier if your heart set on this. Learn your basic sailing knots n you can do this. Remember scoobies.... my 11year can do it with frustration but patience. And Stop n pause of video. Youll do it.
