@@navalgazingatcampdavid Wonderful video as usual, I am finding myself watch every single one you have made! I am not sure if Impact fenders sponsored the video or if you just like the product, but if it was sponsored or if you were given free product you are required to disclose that. It's hard to compare the space on a dragon fly. "How a trimeran has to be laid out" I know you know that's not true so I'll let it slide I think a neel 43 would have been a good trimeran comparison but it does break the 40' mark but only by as much as the c cat misses it. Great video. I always enjoy them

@@robertlataille4536 Dragonflys are very well made, very shallow draft, quick, and fold in, in an upright position. If you're in the Med or anywhere docking is challenging you're going places catamarans aren't. One engne reduce's operating expenses as well. Especially if you sail in decent weather, This is the Way.

The Neel is a better version of a catamaran. It's faster than a cruising catamaran, but not as fast as a Dragonfly/Corsair/Rapido. Combines the best of both, but you pay for it in beam.

@@seamlessconstruction1655 Hi Robin, You really can't go wrong with Lagoon, and if you want a little more sport, with all the room, then the Excess 11 & 14 are for you. They shaved 2.0 t and lowered the boom. They also created a unique interior aesthetic which some will love and others won't, but as long as you love it, that is all that counts. I personally love the aft helms and really love the way that they have still included a fold down fly lounge while keeping the boom low. VERY innovative. Not sure why the performance cruiser manufacturers don't "liberate" this great idea. I threw out a version in one of my Naval Gazing segments, that also retained all the solar area, so you have your cake and eat it too...but no bites yet lol. I think you are going to LOVE your new boat!! Congratulations!!!!

Hi David. Those are certainly good options too. I have yet to get aboard the smallest vessels from these manufacturers as I know exactly what Sylvia would say lol. Regardless, I will certainly look to add them to the list. Thanks for the comment!!

Hi Peter. Thanks for watching and, honestly, thanks for the comment. I started this channel as a pure newbie just trying to convince my wife to sell the house and move onto a boat so we could do a circumnavigation as a retirement project. She’s a city girl so it’s an uphill battle. Lol. As a result, the reviews were all done based on what she is interested in. This would seem superficial to a real sailor. As I got further in, I received great guidance and info from the audience and my desire to understand more technical details increased. As a result the data chart increased to include hull construction and SA/D as well as D/L info. More recently, I have wanted to add real life sailing performance info , so O have been reaching out to the sailing forums for owners of each boat type who would be willing to send me a quick video review covering things like light air’s performance, heavy seas comfort and control, speed performance, build quality etc. It is surprisingly hard to find folks who are willing to do this. But I push on. I would LIVE to personally sail each boat, but until I have the reputation and travel budget of Toby Hodges, I will have to stick with my day job. Lol. Bottom line, I hear you and want to improve the depth and technical content. If you have experience on any of these boats, or have a network of experienced sailors who do, please let me know. I welcome your contributions in whatever form they take. Thanks again!!!

@@navalgazingatcampdavid I’ve been sailing fir 60 years. Still learning but won just about every race U wanted. Now had an Astrea 42 fir 18 myhs picked up in La Rochelle and into the Ned. Smokyjim is presently on yhe hard in Didim Turkey getting warranty issues fixed while we are waiting out the Euro winter in Thailand. Over to Carrabean late this year now most issues have been sorted. Lovely boat to sail and in comfort. Enjoy your search but brst not be critical of any brand as they all have their pluses and minuses. Its more about getting a boat that fits your circs as you’ll figure out as you get further down the track. And then you tailor it to your soecific needs, wants & budget. My misses started off missing her house, now she misses the biat and can’t wait to get back onboard and start this Med Summer. Cheets from Tini’s & Peter

@@peterasquith6942 Hi Peter. That is a whooolllee lot of sailing experience! It’s fantastic to hear about your wife’s change of heart. Since I started this channel and Sylvia started showing her friends, my evil plan has been working, in that her friends are telling her she is crazy if she doesn’t jump on board. Lol. I just love the sound of what you two are doing. I’ve done business in Turkey and lived in Bangkok for six months on business. Both very cool places. I am VERY interested to hear an experienced sailor speak so positively about a production cat. Normally it’s all about how heaven and slow they are. But I’ve been looking at the FP numbers and their construction (never mind their beautiful styling) and thinking that FP might just be the one. Thanks so much for getting back to me. I hope we can meet you and your wife someday soon. PS. I’m toying with the idea of a monthly or quarterly panel discussion of experienced sailor reviewing the previous period’s tours. Again, just to get real, practical viewpoints. Would you be interested in participating? All the very best. D
