Question: WIll there be a USS Indianapolis 75th Anniversary Camo or ship discount in the Shop for this ship ? In Honor of its sinking on July 30th 1945 ? Other ships have received this Honor in the game . Please repost if you support this idea .

My Grandfather Donald Besse served aboard the U.S.S. COD patrols 2-6. He was a GM3c When they sunk the Destroyer Karukaya, it was crazy. As the story goes, my grandpa knocked out a crewmate who was freaking out and screaming while they were getting depth charged. I guess if they were going to get blown up, he wanted a little peace and quiet first. They made it out of there, but I guess it was like pennies rattling around in a coke can, whole sub was shaking. Awesome video

My dad took us to see the USS COD several times before he passed away 2days after my 8th birthday. I met actual veteran sailors who did patrols on her in the pacific. Veterans are to me, treasured living history books that complement a piece of WWII pacific theater history!! It's one of Cleveland's many wonderful museums!! Incredibly small as submarines go. The USS COD museum experiences are among some great childhood memories.

I visited Cleveland and went aboard the Cod about 10 years ago. I wore my Navy submarine ball cap and was amazed at the welcome I received... they rolled out the red carpet for a fellow dolphin wearing submariner. Ironic that her hull number is 224 because my old sub had hull number 624. The Cod does not have a “hole” punched in her like other tourist subs and you really have to be careful when you board her. I thank all that welcomed me on that day and I especially thank everyone that keeps her preserved.

To the crew(s) of the USS COD, Thank you for your service. The only reason the USAF got me was the fact that the naval recruiting office was out to lunch..... otherwise I was small enough and intelligent enough to have qualified for "The Silent Service" when I was looking to join the Navy back in '64. USAF recruiters were in the office next door ! Such is Fate.

OUTSTANDING Presentation of Cod!! I've held a lifelong love of submarine warfare in general and WWII, Pacific theater submarine warfare in particular. My Dad was a Marine Corps pilot in WWII and Korea, and that influenced my decision to go Army aviation for Vietnam, otherwise I'm sure I would have been a Bubblehead. I wrote about submarine warfare in several of my (historically accurate fiction) books in the series, "The Indomitable Patriot," "They Stood Above The Rest," and "The Patriot Chronicles: Operation Crimson Tide." I subscribed to the channel and look forward to watching the rest of the shows. I also wish to compliment the producers for their accuracy in this show. It was a hard life aboard the "Pig Boats" and you documented it exceptionally well.........

It is still a war ready vessel, part of the Taiwanese navy, the Sea lion. In 2019 she got a $19M retrofit. Mark Felton has done a short video on her. Anyway, she was supposed to be towed to Erie PA for the drydock, but the towing company backed out at the 11th hour. Now the COD is scheduled to be towed to Erie sometime this Spring (2021) for the underwater refurb..

Dudley Walker Morton is the Leonidas of submarines. He took the submarine from a tool of observation to the weapon of war we know today. Many used the "down the throat" shot after he was the first to prove the right crew can do it. Plus Morton's tactics and knowledge was used by Richard O'kane to make O'kane the top sub skipper of ww2, and he happened to be Morton's former executive officer. I wonder what Morton could have done if he eventually got command of a Balao.

Well since you already explain the artillery armament of submarines in the videos about submarines, I hope you do plan to introduce artillery armament for the submarines ingame too. You should have these as a last ditch attempt at defending yourself as sub captain, having only one artillery gun of basically Destroyer caliber wouldn't be a real threat either, only when a target is about to die anyway.

@@WolfdogKitok I tried the sub battles and honestly I hated how they tried to make them playable. I was actually looking forward to slowly skulking around the battlefield and denying the enemy certain avenues of attack. Also I was hoping for each nation to have a better gimmick than, one has faster sonar, one has a faster ship, ect. Would have been cool if the Germans had homing torpedoes, the US had underwater longevity, and the Soviets could lay mines. Something other than trying to force a ship with such different battle tactics to play like everyone else.

The Magnetic detonator worked properly, it just wasnt calibrated for equatorial latitude. New London CT where the Beuro of Ordinance for the submarine service is just above the 40th parallel, which has a tighter magnetic field as we get closer to the poles of the globe. The other ignition problem encountered was the firing pin that was to travel accoss the axis of the torpedo. A right angle strike wouldn't detonate because of the inertial G force wouldn't allow the pin to travel upon impact. However a glancing angle strike there would be detonation. Ironically the fix was using the lightweight alloy from the propellers Japanese aircraft shot down at Pearl Harbor to fashion a lightweight version firing pin.

My father was a crewman on this boat. He was an electricians mate. His battle station was the forward torpedo room. He lost quite a bit of his hearing from both the deck guns and the loud machinery noise inside. His stories of approach and attack and being depth charged afterwards match these accounts very well. He also served on the Mingo and the Bergall.

When I was slim enough to fit thru the hatch many year's ago, I toured the COD. after all I was a native Clevelander who water skiied right up to the boat and also walked almost into a torpedo tube when lake Erie was frozen. This presentation was much, much better than my tour and I can appreciate how your dad endured the cramped environment. You have a great father!

Amazing to see the craftsmanship our forefathers were capable of some 80 years ago. And the heroes that actually went to war in those things, ...greater men than I !

Even longer before that. That's when it was all put together. But it would have taken many years of planning and building to get it to that point. I know they say what's currently being machined, won't be fully put together and in service for about 20 years.

*Hats off to the "Bubble Heads"!* , I couldn't do it!!! When I joined in 81, I decided I was not the right stuff for fighting in a ship meant to sink, just nope!!!!!! LOL :) Oh yeah, and besides, I doubt my ASVAB was high enough anyway, if I remember, I think I got 70 or 71, but that was cool with me, back at THAT time, if you had a 69 or better, again I don't remember the exact number, you could join without having to have a high school diploma! :) As soon as I turned 18, I dropped out of high school, and signed up under the delayed entry program, and partied my butt off all spring, and part of summer, before I Went to boot in San Diego! LOL Funny now that I think about it, I didn't need a diploma to join the Navy, but did to drive a truck (OR GED)! Go figure! ;) ...

I served on two nuc subs. On a submarine if something catches fire you put the fire out or die trying because if you don’t try you will die without trying.
