I do the same thing but throw my battery in the front hatch also. I put some Duct Seal down on the bottom and the battery sits in the mold and doesn't move. Haven't had any issues.

Hi I’m from Australia, and started kayak fishing a few months ago. And have also just bought myself a Garmin fish finder, and was wondering what was the easiest way to install it. So thank you, your video was very helpful.

Thanks for the great video! Very informative and helpful for me since I have a Hobie and an Old Town I'm fixing up for use this summer.

I have seen quite a few videos of electronics being installed on kayaks. I don't think any of them mentioned using marine grade wire and connectors. Are we not required to use marine grade on kayaks?
@NavarreKayakFishing
@NavarreKayakFishing 3 ай бұрын
The majority of connectors are marine grade. That’s just a phrase. Kind of like military grade.

Well damn, I was thinking of doing this but, drilled holes instead. I was afraid of messing up the seals.

There’s nothing wrong with drilling holes.

Any idea on how to mount the headunit on an older Hobie Outback handle? Of course there are no rails on my hobie handle. My outback doesn't have any rails or mounts stock.

Do you need to bag up the battery pack or can you just secure in the rear dry storage?
@NavarreKayakFishing
@NavarreKayakFishing 9 ай бұрын
The Nocqua system is waterproof so you can store it anywhere. I’ve left it under the seat several times. Inside the kayak will be fine.

Read my mind on this. Thanks for the video. I bought a Garmin 73sv for Destin but I just read that it doesn’t have coastal maps. Best way to update it?
@NavarreKayakFishing
@NavarreKayakFishing Жыл бұрын
You don’t need the coastal maps. It’s not nearly as much information as one would think and the depth lines are far from accurate.

Hey Nick. Does that scupper transducer mount work for hummingbird with side scan? Does it go low enough that the boat doesn’t interfere with it?
@NavarreKayakFishing
@NavarreKayakFishing Жыл бұрын
It does. We make a Humminbird version. Side scan shoots out and down at an angle so it clears the bottom of the kayak without issue.

Love this idea Can you also store the battery in the rear hatch under the seat or do you see an issue with the battery cable being compressed by the cover
@NavarreKayakFishing
@NavarreKayakFishing Жыл бұрын
You can install the battery in the rear hatch. (I just don’t like moving the seat to recharge, the bag provides easy access and stops anything from sliding around inside the kayak). The cover will not hurt the cables. I’ve been running the wires like this for several years with zero issues.

Yo Nick, I'm having trouble finding any info on what transducer works best with the Simrad Go series (which I have on our boat). I'm going to set my Topwater PDL 120 to work with the same unit, I'll just move it back and forth as needed. Any info would be helpful and Thx for all the great product and videos! Super helpful always.

Bro you ought to get a wilderness systems recon 120 hd next. Awesome rig just not enough aftermarket parts. It's just like an oldtown with instant reverse. It's a super fun, super stable rig, the drive is awesome it just needs someone like you. I have to replace a broken prop which includes drilling holes and removing roll pins I'm sure you could come up with a much simpler design.

@@NavarreKayakFishing oh I didn't know that! It broke right in the middle at the mount, I think it may have happened getting in or out of the kayak I'm not sure as my brother takes my kayak out sometimes also.

That makes sense. We’ve had a few people trip over the years and hit the handle.
