Currently steam engine doesnot use Coal it is either #Highspeed_Diesel or #FurnaceOil heating the water since quality coal is not available & turnaround time for Pure coal is 3 Hours(Cleaning & refilling coal), Furnace Oil is 5 Hours & #Highspeed_Diesel is only 30 Minutes. So soon all steam engines will be converted to #Highspeed_Diesel & future mostly to #Hydrogen_Engines

Naveen Kumar I really wished that you had completed your journey upto Ooty. Happy to note that a Special train from Mettupalayam tO Ooty has been introduced on weekends. The prices are little higher but then one can have comfortable travel. The complimentary Kit you got from Nilgiri Mountain Railways IS indeed great. Enroute scenic views were superb.
