Thanks. Helpful. That's an old "small engine" trick. Pull the spark plug, ground it to metal block and try starting to see if there is consistent spark. I had a Navien NPE-240-A tankless hot water heater installed August of last year. About 2 months in, I started getting the "E003" ignition failure. I found that the ignition plug was loose. The screws that hold it in place along with a special rectangular-shaped flange plate, into the ignition chamber were loose. So it was poor/missed assembly by the plumber. After tightening them, I have not had the issue. I like the unit. It is very touchy. Tell me, do you ever get a small, short smell of natural gas at a faucet after running the hot water? That happens occasionally. Only on 1 fixture. It's almost as if there is some small amount of bleed of gas into that water line.

Do you get the smell at every fixture. or the one that closest to the unit ( water heater). It is normal for all tankless water heaters to disperse unburned gas in too atmosphere , when they start. But the smell of gas in the water, never herd of it. If it dose happen, I would say some force of physics. water, gas , and electricity.

I have NR-180A (NG), get 003 code, wondering if the flame rod is issue, or flow sensor?

I have NP-210 A unit that is older than 10 years. I tried to change Flame Rod but the new part was not able to push in. The certified plumber could not do either. Do you have any experience with the units?

I am also receiving a E003-02 error code on my model 180NG. I am seeing that some people are suggesting the Mother board since I have already replace the flame rod sensor. How can you test to see if it is a board?

Code E003 is indicates failure of ignition. when I have worked on my personal Unit (Plumbers Luck) this is the thing to look for. 1 Obstruction in exhaust and air intake pipes 2 How they have been installed on out side ( make sure fresh air don't suck exhaust fumes ) 3 Ignition rod 4 gas valve. 5 and Spark modular ( to troubleshoot it you would have to dismantle spark rod, and start the unit with rod pulled out from the burning assembly but wires are still attached. I would recommend to ground the braked that rod is attached to. other wise high voltage may pass through the person who is troubleshooting. It would do 5 attempts to fire up by opening the gas valve, if ignition fail to be performed, then ignition modular is at fault, ) this what had worked for me, Although tech support dose not recommend to perform any of this actions 6 Check if the is any leaks on the exhaust inside the unit.

@@andreyorlov1779 remove the Ignition transformer and Measure the resistance between the 2 pins that connect to the boiler. you should have continuity if not the primary of the transformer is bad. you should get around 1k on the secondary the wires that connect to the Ignitor.
@seandunegan97822 жыл бұрын
Also if you measure the Voltage on the wires that connect to the Transformer as the unit is trying to fire up you should read around 120volts if not then the Control board might be the issue.

I cleaned the ignition rods and it worked. They were not dirty. Maybe just moving things around.
