I think one of Madlib’s greatest innovations is that he never limited himself with what to sample. He genuinely loves music from all over the world, so when he dives into sounds from Brazil, India, and more, it never feels forced. Also, I could be wrong, but it feels like he actually listens to the records instead of just rushing through looking for what to sample.

It’s true that u don’t gotta feel bad for using minimal chops or even just chopping twice and stretching it to make it a cohesive loop. Sometimes stuff that sounds like a loop is really just two chops. One can be for the beginning of the bar then the other one connects it to the end. Many samples aren’t easy to loop but can be made into loops with minimal chops

I believe the bass wobble Madlib has is just a side product of the timestretching in SP-303/404s. Audacity, which is free and most people have, will also do it - if you up the tempo and keep the pitch. Maybe a bit fiddly for some as you'll have to export and import, but it's probably more like that sound than just using a tremolo plug-in.
