I know this is an old video, but there's a way easier way. Use the fruity peak controller on the kick and a parametric EQ 2 on the signal you want attenuated. right click the band you want to duck and link it to the internal controller and select your peak controller and dial in the amount of ducking you want. Personally, I prefer doing this with fabfilter pro-q3 so I have mid-side options, but it works just as well with the stock stuff.

The way I've always sidechained my kick and bass is to leave the kick as is, then go into the envelope settings of the 808s and nudge the attack a few milliseconds off. This delays the 808s a bit, thereby creating a pocket for the kick to sit in without being overpowered by the 808. I've been doing it this way since I started making beats, and it has been working for me. What do you think about this method?
@NavieD4 жыл бұрын
It definitely works for that first, initial kick you may layer at the beginning of your 808. But if you have another kick that is playing part-way through the 808, then you're sorta pickled.
