I have them on my atv but never heard of using them in daytime. been riding a lot of places in PA but never seen many use them, also no signs at atv parks recommending them.. Is this a west thing? Trash/litter, loud music blaring, stupid loud exhaust for no reason and people shooting on trail (yes, firing off guns); are all the reasons I am thinking about taking my land out of the trail... Right on! Great list. Don't know how I haven't stumbled into your channel till just now but fellow mn rider here and one of my complaints is people not staying on the marked trails! We need more trails out here and people riding off the marked trail is one of the biggest points people use against us as the off-road community here for getting new trails built. Would love to hit the trails with you around here some day! Nemadji, red top, and all the systems along the north shore are great places to rip around. Also the iron range area with the ohv Park and all the trails up there out side the park will give you days worth of great scenic riding!!
@davebarnessr.58053 жыл бұрын
I would agree with this list and the only thing I might add would be to ride with space when in groups so hopefully no one is crashing into each other! I ride a Honda Rancher 4x4 and while I’m sure it has good brakes, This machine I figure like probably all others sold today has so much compression I never need the brakes to slow down or even stop fast which means you won’t get a brake light! That’s why extra riding space is very important, but in truth I’m just an old guy who rides slow anyway so I’d probably never be in front of anybody anyways!

Along with waiting at a turn before making it I periodically stop and wait for fellows riders to catch up just in case they're having a problem and need help. The further I ride on without waiting for a catch up the further I'll have to ride back to see what the hold up is. When waiting for other riders it really makes a difference when they have their headlights on. You can literally see them through the forest three times further with headlights on than without. Thanks for the awesome videos! Maybe a video showing how to ride a more technical section in the future.
@NavigateOffroad5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the in depth response Colorado Kodiak! You bring up a great point I didn't even touch on with waiting in case they need help (wish I would have thought to mention that). It's a great point, especially if they need help because something happened. It's less of an issue if their machine just stopped, but who is to say they didn't roll over or get hurt. I have been on a ride where I noticed someone missing and sure enough they ended up tipping their machine a little way's back. Good idea on the "how to ride" video! I will give that one some thought.

I won’t say it isn’t a problem, but I’ve never run into the group where drinking is causing any issues. All the groups I’ve seen usually have a cooler or two and drink a beer every couple hours or even every hour. They always have water and pop too, though. I think it’s too easy to just vilify anyone holding a beer. I’m sure I’ll get down voted to oblivion but beer isn’t bad. Irresponsible riding is the real issue. I love to have a few drinks, but I’m not one to drink on the trail so this doesn’t hit “home” for me. Playing devils advocate for those who are responsible.
@jimmace61485 жыл бұрын
Never seen an issue with people drinking out wheeling? LOL. I drink some. A few in our group do too. But I hang with them because they arent dicks. I've seen a LOT of drunks causing all sorts of issues from fighting with people, being a severe nuisance, tearing up park grounds, to being air lifted out on 2 occassions. I think Drink Responsibly is the key. Many dont have that ability.
@NavigateOffroad5 жыл бұрын
I understand you playing devils advocate for those who drink responsibly. I did not mean, do not drink and ride period...I should have maybe worded it to say drink and ride responsibly. I agree with Jim, drinking and riding is a serous problem. You and some others might drink responsibly, but so, so many riders do not. That's like saying we should be able to drink in our cars, because drinking a beer while driving down the road won't get you drunk. I don't think beer is the problem, its definitely the one drinking it. Beer doesn't cause accidents, irresponsible riders do. Unfortunately it has become such an issue. I fear that it won't be too long before drinking and riding is illegal. Which sucks for people like you, who like to enjoy the outdoors and have a beer or two responsibly while out riding for the day.

I just started 4wheeling a year ago. This year I'm finding more advanced trails to go on. What is the trail etiquette for speed around blind corners? Is it ok to bomb them as long as you stay to your right or do you need to slow way down? I've had multiple people bomb them so fast they didnt have time to throw up a hand to let me know there were 5 more riders coming. (I may or may not be guilty too)

Only use 4x4 when you actually need it because having it in 4x4 isn't great on fuel economy and it can possibly tear up your drive train when riding so unless its soft dirt, mud, or hillclimbing, leave in 2x4

I saw a guy drinking and riding without proper gear a couple of months ago and riding later in the day next I see him he’s on the ground possibly paralyzed with a severe concussion and broken bones with 3 ambulances cop cars and his family there watching.

I think all of your suggestions are commonsense for 90% of riders EXCEPT the tractor rap stereo guys. UGGGHHHHH!! I refuse to goto offroad parks on busy holiday weekends because there is no possible way to get away from the music and enjoy the outdoors. I've pretty much decided to only wheel on the legal park land here in Missouri because it's so large an area I can get away from the crazies.

Wow, that's too bad Jim. It can be a lot of fun to ride with other riders, but when there are a bunch of wild riders out just causing issues it can definitely make it less enjoyable for others. Sucks that you seem to run into it so often.

@@NavigateOffroad oh I always ride with a group. But I avoid holiday weekends at popular offroad Parks to stay away from the idiots.

I’d rather hear the engine than music anyway. And overly loud exhausts are horrible too. They don’t make your atv faster.

I don't like listening to music when I'm riding I find it very distracting. I also don't like having loud exhaust because I tend in ride in places that I'm not supposed to. Loud exhaust sounds awesome at first but when I'm riding for several hours it gets annoying.
