I'm just thumbs upping before I even watch because I'm liking the fact that you posted a vid. Now that I've watched the video I can say this is very helpful because I'm looking for ways to add river donking into my game, very trick spot. One thing I can gauge from here is that we can use the river donk when our opponent is likely to check back with a lot of hands that are worse than ours but would call a bet, and then we can mix in some bluffs that block that same calling range.

Good analysis as always :) For the donkbet river it donks more because you have only 1 raise size (3x) but 4 different sizes after checking, and I don't think 3x is pio's favourite raise size, so it forces IP to use a bad sizing. If you rerun the sim and put more raising sizes on the river (even just all in) I guess pio will still donk a bit on a T or a 8 but i'm almost sure that it will check close to 100% on an offsuit K or anything not especially good for OOP.

damn i wanted to be the smart one who points out this flaw. if your opponents range has the nut ADV and you can force him to only get 1200 into the pot instead of betting 2100 in a check/check scenario the solver obviously favors donk bets way more than it should. still a good video though

I was under the impression that these spots on the flop like monotone boards, and paired boards. U want to check alot whether ur strong or not. For multiple reasons. Unless ur against an icm leveraged player deep in a tourney. I.e. in a cash game, u want to check these flops when ur strong to protect ur checking range. Also, what r u gonna get called by? And, if u cbet bluff these boards too often, its very ez to play against u. These boards r my favorite to checkraise an agg opponent on as a bluff.. cuz, how can they call with nothing here.. especially when the turn makes the board look even stronger, and i continue.. alotta of equity gets picked up an lost on these boards. As the aggressor, my point is. Im USUALLY checking back this flop. Just me.

Even after the explanation, I didn't understand the donkey bet on the river. Basically in my thinking you only get called buy flushes or raised by nut-flush. Even the fact the she doesn't hold a 9 of diamond just make me more willing to check river and play my trips as bluff cacther 100% of the time. I mean, from what worse hands would call the donkey bet, so to extract money I would just check and induce another bluff
@keithmason1485
@keithmason1485 4 жыл бұрын
Because theoretically you should be getting called by worse. All overpairs are going to check back but may talk themselves into a call. If you get raised you fold, since very few people are capable of bluffing here, and you're going to call most bets anyway.

@@On3Thought well if you check 100% of your hands you're technically perfectly balanced as well.
@richbuckingham
@richbuckingham 4 жыл бұрын
The donk (I think) is really there to balance out your bluffs, of which you have many here, people rarely flop flushes (119:1) and with this board there's so many other draws from the flop and turn that are continuing that when the T comes on river you're going to donk and represent you had that the whole way or some other made hand as everything else missed. Here a donk is getting called 39% of the time by stuff as low as 77 and even AJo and AKo, the solver is going for max EV so what a donk lead says is that there's a lot of value to be had even without a flush here and the donk is the way to maximize it and trips is still considered value for sure.
@sergiozack974
@sergiozack974 4 жыл бұрын
Richard Buckingham our value hands should always (in theory) be balanced with bluffs so it’s not the answer here imo. You start to building a donking range on the card that favors callers (your) range. In this example T is good for us cos we have many TP from BB and IP player should check back river with some strong hands on this river.

around 7 minutes i dont understand why a made flush needs no protection. Dont you need to protect against 4 to the board Acehigh flushes and thelike?
@FindingEquilibrium
@FindingEquilibrium 4 жыл бұрын
I don't believe I said no protection. If I did, that was a misstatement. I meant it needs less protection relative to many other hands, especially since there are already at least 6 out of 13 suits removed. In contrast, most top pair holdings need protection from higher top pairs, sets, two pair, straights, etc.
