Hii! You mentioned that a leadership positions in a club would better go under "Achievements". What section should I add it under: Awards, Honors or Scholarships?

In retrospect, It could go under experiences or achievements. I would recommend putting it under achievements if you were assigned the position but have yet to start the position. If you have served the position for some time, then I’d suggest putting it under experiences. For your question, I’d put it under honors if you have yet to start the position. Hope this helps!

Hi! This sheet was shared to me on public forums, I think it was Facebook, during my app cycle. I know it is a few years old but I assume it’s a good reference point! For schools you are really interested in though, I’d always check their website for the most updated and accurate information. As far as international students, I’m unfamiliar with that admissions process and if stats are the same as for traditional students. I suggest checking school’s websites for that information!

Hey! We are so glad you enjoyed and benefited from watching :) We don’t know a ton about postbacc programs as we never applied for any. However, I do know you should 100% take into account the price of the program. Obviously try and select programs that are cheaper as dental school is already expensive and you want to avoid going in with a large amount of debt already. Additionally, there are many programs where you will be offered an interview at their dental school as long as you meet a certain gpa threshold during your time there. This almost guarantees you a spot at their dental school which is advantageous and would make me consider them compared to other programs. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the video. I'm kind of in a dilemma right now -- I was planning on applying this cycle, but my DAT is scheduled for August 19th, then the score takes an additonal 3 weeks to autheticate/confirm, meaning the very soonest I could apply would be mid september-- which I'm assuming by then a lot of the seats for dental schools are going to be taken. I have the chance to get a masters degree, so should I wait for the next cycle 24-25, get my masters, and apply June 2025? Or is it still possible getting accepted applying mid September. Thanks again for your videos.

Hi thanks for your reply! It’s not too late to apply mid-September but it’s definitely not early. Your chance at an acceptance is not out of the window though, the application cycle goes on until the summer so there’s a chance you receive an interview despite applying somewhat “late.” Also, I think most schools review applications as long as you have at least the unofficial score which you will have on August 19th, for an initial review. However, they may not move forward with additional reviews until the confirmed and official DAT score is in. Lastly, when considering to do a masters, it’s really up to you and your GPA. It’s worth considering if your GPA is low since GPA is an important aspect to your application!

Covid was really challenging for me. I switched to pre-dental after the first semester of lockdown and from there pretty much everything went wrong. It affected my grades, left me without a home for several weeks, I lost my job, and there wasn't any pre-dental advisors to tell me how to prepare for dental school + a few other things. Do you have any advice on how I can say this without seeming whiny? This is the last part of my app that needs to be completed.

This is a tough situation for sure. I would strongly recommend mentioning this on your COVID essay and/or your disadvantage essay. I think one approach you can take is mentioning how through all the adversity you have been through, you’re still applying and aren’t going to let anything get in the way from your dream of serving others and becoming a dentist. You can definitely mention it all. However, don’t make it seem like an excuse for poor grades, etc. Instead show how you had bumps along the road (and big ones at that), however you persevered and still pushed through. So yes, you could talk about every single hardship you went through, just always make sure you're finishing with a strong sentence about perseverance and leave the reader with the impression that you could tackle obstacles
