January 1, 2007 - After taking off from Indonesia’s Suribaya airport, Adam Air Flight 574 settles in for the two-hour trip to Manado. But somewhere over the Java Sea, the plane hits turbulence, and air traffic controllers notice the aircraft is hundreds of miles off course… and headed for a major storm. The jet’s navigational systems aren’t working. And the bad weather is closing in. The crew struggle to find their way - when suddenly, flight 574 disappears from radar - 102 people are killed. The investigation uncovers shocking problems with Adam Air - and much of the Indonesian airline industry.

It kinda sort does. Most SWA pilots are junior/inexperienced pilots. Luckily, SWA hasn't had very many incidents/fatalities. 🤔😋

I think a simple ping pong ball on a 5 inch string could confirm an airplane's pitch and roll in case of a situation like this.

Always so quick to blame the pilots. Between the shotty maintenance, the tendency to roll to the right, and the fact that the screens black out, it seems to me the plane was the problem. Not the pilots.

It's something that has to be investigated. Most crashes are due at least in part to pilot error.

But they always come up with 5 things wrong with training, maintenance, weather, etc, and then say “the pilots should have known about that one obscure procedure written in the manual 5 years ago”. I doubt those investigators have ever had that level of fight or flight adrenaline.

What is ashamed is the airline took so long to finance a search of the plane when victims want to know what had happened to the plane. It should not take 7 months to pay for this. If the airlines had paid for it from the start the investigation, and the issues would have had a better income.
