If I wasn't creating KZbin videos, I'm even happy with the earlier Navman units that didn't have the safety features. Using Waze or my own applications for alerts can keep costs down.

​@@kelvineldridgeproblem is you can't have your phone in certain positions in your car while you drive and/or you can't touch your phone in some states while you're driving at all so if you don't already have a Android auto or apple carplay system in your car you kind of stuffed

@DarthAwar yes the laws are broad and not easy to understand what you can and can't do. They change from state to state and even I've noticed for Victoria, the rules have changed recently quite a bit. Not a legal person, but I suspect even if you do have Android auto or Apple carplay, if you sit your phone in the console so you can see the screen, without a commercial holder, this may even be breaking the law. If I read the Victorian laws correctly, it does appear they've changed the laws so what you can do on the factory installed screen, you can also do on your phone, as long as it's in a commercial holder. As I said, not a legal person, just how I see things and I'm still re-reading the laws in Victoria because they're not clear to me.

I'm going to buy the 4K tomorrow on sale. 1080p is ok but 4K is much clearer for only double the price on sale.

Yes, the sale price at JB HiFi looks good. Much better than when it was $369, but I used Qantas points (which is probably a bad way to use Qantas points) as it didn't feel like money. I'm very happy with the quality of the video for the price. Some quirks but can live with them given the quality for the price.

How is the dash cam.? Did you buy it?

Yes. I bought it just over a year ago. Actually used Qantas points + cash. Bad use of Qantas points but since I hadn't used them, made the pain of spending so much on a 4K dash cam easier.

2:39 is interesting you seem to see more litter in 4k. The car number plate is clearer. I wonder how the autofocus is set? I'm only on 1080 as I'm waiting to move back to Australia before buying a 4k monitor so I may not see all the benefits. 4:20 White is clearer less grey and muddy and colours are deeper. Thanks again.

Thanks. It was good hearing your feedback. Agree with both those points. Currently I'm using 1080 as well. Thought I'd start recording in 4K as it's the future. Also on mobile you can zoom in more. Now you've mentioned a 4K monitor you started me thinking about too!

I also noticed the image has more white specs near the rubbish that look like mulch, so it's making some things whiter than they should be.
