I’m a 54 year old desk jockey and I love these videos. I love the honesty. It’s beyond me why so many young guys think they want to do this job. Sure it looks cool. But life experience makes clear that this job is suitable for a fraction of a fraction of the population, no matter how tough you are or think you are.

Whether it is in the military, non military, training or whatever, if you have multiple people carrying something of any substantial weight, someone needs to remind everyone if you have to let go, say something. If nobody else is ready it can cause a chain reaction, that is how people get hurt.

Fire brother, FIRE! Love how log PT really shows how much everyone is putting out. If someone isn't pulling their own weight, there is NO way they can lift the log! 30 pounds is NOTHING. And if you don't put out, OLE MIS(ERY) is there to point you right. Dude, even I could do it if I had to. Everyone does his fair share, easy to do but everyone has to be on board.

What you said about Walker is 100%. There were so many guys through the various schools or selections who would yell and scream and tell people to "put out". Often times while being mediocre performers themselves. It wouldn't be a big deal of sometimes these loud mouths didn't try to scream and often times younger smaller guys. It doesn't work on officers like you or NCOs though I had to smack a guy like Walker for going off on a young nerdy guy in the middle of an event we needed to finish. Nerdy guy had outperformed beyond his size but was lagging on this one particular event when the Walker type of guy had been skating most of the time and then trying to act like he was already an operator when everyone was around. Both ended up passing but I felt bad for whatever team got the Walker guy on a half year deployment.

I absolutely love your videos. I was 18 years in the Navy, officer like you, did tours in the small boat community. A lot of training at Coronado with Naval Coastal Warfare Group One and saw the Seals often in their training as well as at San Clemente Island. I had a request. Could you *please* make a video talking about what it is like to be an officer at Seal training. Is there any difference at all between you and the enlisted in how you were treated. In some of the documentaries, the instructors seem to have a bit more serious talks with the officers and also the officer accompanies them on room inspections. How did the instructors who were E5s relate to you as an officer? Would really like to know!

Hey man I saw a SEAL make this comment about Rangers and was wondering what your thoughts were on it and if you could debunk anything about it. I'll copy and paste it here: I’ve had rangers themselves tell me they’re nothing more then glorified infantrymen. Then I’ve had some tell me they could do everything SEALs do but they can’t. Guys fail buds and go on to become SF. I don’t have anything against them but I do know they’re not on my level. No arrogant but the truth. Different mission set. It would be a waste of our time.

I’m in Regiment. Rangers and SEALs have cock measuring contests all the time, but we both have the mission of kicking down doors and shooting bad motherfuckers in the face. Anyone who talks shit on the internet about another SOF unit probably hasn’t had any real exposure to said unit. Ranger life is fucking brutal and even more brutal than RASP, but I’ll admit that RASP is not as difficult as BUD/s. We don’t have to deal with that cold ass ocean. Truth is, you are going to find a lot more similarities between an 11B in Regiment and a Frogman than you would find differences.

@@jakezweig at BUDs. I was in class 286 and 291. Wound up med dropped and med sepped after two major shoulder surgeries and a neck injury that required surgery. Has haunted me for sure because i know i had what it took physically and mentally but just had kind of a freak accident. But everything happens for a reason. I'm now a prosecuting attorney in Montana and love my job and serving my community. I learned several languages post Navy and I'm still considering some other stuff too with gov/3 letter (with my JD degree and languages) but we will see what the next couple years hold. I enjoyed the video, BUDs was some of the best times of my life. Still have several buddies on the Teams and guys I stay in touch with that I was in Basic and BUDs with. Log PT sucked but it was over before you knew it. I was there shortly after someone took old misery out and burned it as a "gift." 2010-2012. Who knows, maybe I'll get a waiver and go back through and be the oldest man ever to complete BUD/s ;) take care bro.
