seal pull ups go up to the chest. reg pull ups only go to just above the chin

It's not about building muscle or doing "proper" workouts. It's about being able to do the things you might have to do on the battle field.

It's also called a kip pullup, it's more momentum-based then just the straight up-and-down motion of a normal pull up.

I just realised how useless all other workout, training and weight loss vids on KZbin are. This is the real deal, You'll FEEL it on Day 1!

@MMAbadboy i agree, with you. there is not really a better exercise for your legs than squats. most people's problem is that their technique is terrible (knees coming too far forward, coming up on toes, etc..). I am a CSCS, i work with PTs ATs and fitness trainers and they will all say the same. if you have knee problems when doing squats talk with a trainer and learn proper form first

In ALL militaries it is considered good form to keep the head up.

@atromos I agree with you. The rope uses mainly your legs with a tiny bit of shoulders, the pull-ups are ALOT harder Haha

@hollowichi7 don't know if the're bad for you, but i really prefer using the perfect pushup handles for pushups. much more comfortable than regular pushup and you get a better range. they were invented by a navy seal too and no, i dont work for the company; just like em

I don't really see a difference between the two kinds of pull ups?! Anyhow: I thought the physical tests would be tough prior to admission to "hell week" Now I learned from the navy web page that my little sister would pass - well after all she is German :-)

2 Questions: a) What diameter rope are you using in this video (2")? b) I have a 3/4" manilla hemp rope that I put up in a tree in the back yard and the rope keeps slipping through my feet. Is this because it is really too thin or I am missing something with the lock technique?? Thanks.

Nah, i would prefer the pull ups over the rope climb. i just bought a pull up bar and it helps....

Yep. I don't need a leg lock either. Although if we took a bullet to the arm, I'd like to see us climb rope without use of legs..lol

I know that there are physical ways to train, but my point was that video training on KZbin is not gonna get you through BUD/s. These videos don't claim to make you a SEAL (a fact that you conveniently left out). The team guys I know (one my baseball coach, another an Academy friend of mine) said that BUD/s makes you ask yourself why you want it. If that's not "psychological rigor" then nothing is.

INCORRECT. You only have to go up until your chin goes over the bar. I have done three PST's already and have my SEAL Contract.

is it bad to do more than say... 50 pushups? I heard from someone that anywhere more than a certain amount of reps engages you in aerobics training and causes cortisol and possibly a set of different hormones in your body that prevents you from gaining muscle? is that true?

a seal pull up he doesn't extend all the way down and holds himself from extending all the way down as the regular pull up does

wow tried doin this workout....you dont realize how weak you get after a while...i used to lay down like 40 or 50 pushups in a min back in highschool now i can barely do like 20 :P

I'm confused, what is the difference between the regular pull-up and the seal pull-up. It just seems like hes doing the seal ones in quicker succession.

@hrhadam Do you realy think i would search for rope climbing videos if i haven´t :D. I buyed one a while ago and hung it up at a tree in my garden. And climbing it with the footlock is not as much of a training than doing it just with the arms. Although i can´t do a rope climb and 30 pushups afterwards :D

this is nothing every morning when i wake up i benchpress my bed 600 times then do 5, 30 mile sprints and then do 300 squats lifting a full grown black angus steer. then when im done i eat the steer.

im not going on looks, when hes doing the pull ups it l;ooks like hes having a hard time, I know seals are on a whole different level both phsically and mentally than 95 percent of people in the world, i dont have any illusions or delusion that I am better than a seal

Climbing a 20ft rope is not the same as doing 15 pullups. Not even close. Second, doing 250 air squats is going to destroy you if you've never done this. You are better off doing weight lunges. Your hips will thank you.

@DynastyLang But you never operate an m14 whilst quietly ascending from 60 feet underwater after 24 hours of being dehydrated and under miserable conditions. Bearing in mind the tactical assault which you will execute within 15 minutes considering the flanking capabilities of a militia a few yards away. Trying to suppress the idea of having to organize your youngest daughter's bday the next day. Dude, just keep you jock muscles to yourself, nobody here wants to know.
