@Leigh Ramsay Its maybe the end of the story, but the end isn't relevant. The start isn't relevant either. The important part is when you realize your time is limited and that you have to write your story yourself. It's not important how you write that story, it's important how many stories you affect in a positive way and how to affect your own story in a positive way. Its never too late!

ChetnikForever You mean patriots serving their country protecting the ones they love? Look around, every single goddamn one of the thousands of service men and women are there because they want to be. They aren’t forced into it, they aren’t there because they have to be. They are there because they know it’s right, they are there because they want to fight for what they believe in. Fight to keep our great country, the United States of America safe from enemies both foreign and domestic. Wether it’s fighting the terrorist and fuckin jihads in Afghan or fighting traitors at home. They don’t do it because of some “capitalist” agenda. And if you really think the US is speaking chaos around the world, go ahead and tale a look at the shit hole 3rd world countries tearing themselves apart. Some of them don’t even know their head from their ass. Why don’t you say that shit to the citizens of Iraq or Syria who without US and US backed forces, would have been slaughtered and forced under rule of terrible dictators. I don’t give a shit wether you’re American, Russian, or even fucking Pakistani, at least have the brain power to realize the good behind these men and women. Realize the true nature of what goes on over there. It’s real easy to sit behind your screen and scream about capitalism and the chaos the US causes in war, but it’s another thing to be over there and see the shit that would happen with us there. Watching Jihads slitting the throats of women in the streets for teaching children, or executing men, women, and children one after the other to show their power. You have no clue what actually happens. So get the fuck down off of your little commie soapbox and stop complaining.

Refusing to quit is an admirable trait (however everybody who voluntarily withdraws from BUDS went in there with the mindset that they'd never quit. Nobody starts planning to quit, but they do anyways.). Also simply not quitting isn't enough. You can fail BUDS by being performance dropped (there are things like run times, swim times, O course times that you must meet). You can also be dropped if your body gives out on you (stress factures, torn ligaments, etc) so your body must be conditioned prior to getting to BUDS. Good luck to those wishing to venture down this career path.

I wasn’t a seal, just an army infantryman. Joined right as we were about to invade Iraq. I remember the day I went from a civilian to a soldier. The very second. Probably half way through basic, exhausted, injured, hungry, tired, feeling down. As we were getting smoked, I felt I couldn’t take anymore. And I turned all those feelings into aggression. I used that aggression to lush through the pain. At that moment, something changed in me. And to this day I have never lost that feeling. No matter what I go through in life, I can push through.

I was crying on the phone calling my mom. I cant handle This i want to quit. And she told me if you want to quit you can to that but i believe in you. Its only in youre brain that you Think you cant do it anymore. They say when you Think that you cant anymore then youre just at 30% and you still have the rest energy to go further and keep walking. If you quit you will return as someone Who gave up. And This will continue in youre live. Everytime a hard point reaches youre mind you will want to quit. Looking at the military and seeing how crazy the training is for them, makes me realize that high school sports and college festivities, are literally a blip in time. Whether it’s the military, or it’s working an 8-5 job, that matters more than stressing about how well one has done in athletics in high school or college. That’s the shit that matters and what sports prepare you for. Sports isn’t life, but the way you approach life after your youth is what matters
@casualguy39382 жыл бұрын
I didn't play sports in high school but out of a platoon of 89 recruits I was in the top 5 physically, and even got meritoriously promoted in Basic Training. Lower your horns and go after every thing in front of you like a raging bull and you would be surprised at what your body and mind are capable of. Know this, they won't let you die in Basic Training, and any injury you get will get attended to and heal quickly. You'll make a few friends in Basic Training, but they key point is to get so tough and capable of doing anything that you will get home to your family relatively sane. I just turned 54 I am still mowing the youngsters down in my chosen sport.

I was in BUD/S in the mid-90s and quit in 3rd phase on the Monday before my class went to San Clemente. Prior to my DOR I had been thinking about quitting for a couple weeks because I'd already had so much invested in the program. However, I realized that I simply didn't want to live the life required of a SEAL. I wish I had learned that much earlier, but at that time very little information was available about the Teams. Part of me regrets that decision, but it was the correct one because my heart was no longer completely in it and that could have gotten someone hurt or killed.

Don't learn to turn that pain into aggression. Turn that pain into knowledge about yourself and humanity as a whole and teach others about the coping mechanisms you used to overcome it.
