Navy sings its alma mater, "Navy Blue and Gold," after Saturday's season opener. The Naval Academy always invites the opposing team to join in, and the Buckeyes did.

And example of good sportsmanship, respect for your opponent.

Awesome! What a great show of sportsmanship and respect. The military academies play for a greater cause and Ohio State's Players just honored them for it! Great Job.

NAVY BLUE & GOLD Now colleges from sea to sea May sing of colors true, But who has better right than we To hoist a symbol hue: For sailors brave in battle fair Since fighting days of old, Have proved the sailor’s right to wear The Navy Blue & Gold. So hoist our colors, hoist them high, And vow allegiance true, So long as sunset gilds the sky Above the ocean blue, Unlowered shall those colors be Whatever fate they meet, So glorious in victory, Triumphant in defeat. Four years together by the Bay, Where Severn joins the tide, Then by the Service called away, We’re scattered far and wide; But still when two or three shall meet, And old tales be retold, From low to highest in the Fleet, We’ll pledge the Blue and Gold.

Damn so even when they're actively against another opponent they still yell 'beat army'. That's one hell of a rivalry

Every game, and I mean EVERY GAME the Buckeyes play at home, you can hear every student sing " I don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan" exiting the south stands. Believe me when I say, beating that team up north does not mean everything, IT IS EVERYTHING!
@nicholasbenge9497 Жыл бұрын
A rivalry that predates the United States, to the Revolution. From the second the Midshipmen enter Annapolis to the day they get lowered into the grave, they eat, sleep, and breathe Beat Army.

You might not see this comment.. But if you look up West Point Graduation... You will hear the super intendant at the end of the ceremony say "dismiss the class of 2019 Go Army Beat Navy" at a graduation lol

Unexpected lol. You clearly don’t know these players and the inside of the facility and what’s taught. Don’t get fans and players mixed up.

None of them knew the words
@treebeardtheent22002 жыл бұрын
That's because they ruined it by changing the words to the new politically correct version. Before that, midshipmen were proud to learn it and sing it.

Ohio State players much bigger. It must have been really one sided.
@nicholasbenge9497 Жыл бұрын
Because all of the Midshipmen must meet Navy/Marine standards of physical fitness (so some of the linesmen will have to drop weight after school before shipping out to the fleet by a significant margin). For example, a 6'3" 300lbs OL player will have to drop to 216 lbs before being allowed to join their units, to comply with Navy standards. For Midshipmen who commission as Marines, its even more.

@RfMsC556 жыл бұрын
sydIRISH You do realize that Notre Dame got quite a few of their traditions from the Naval Academy right?
@treebeardtheent22002 жыл бұрын
Not like it used to be. Political correctness over manly fighting spirit has ruined one of the greatest traditions of all time.
