Yes! I am half-Japanese and have this half-Asian eye also. Fortunately, I understand Japanese so I’ve been watching the Japanese make-up channels, but they don’t tend to do smokey eyes. Lisa is the first Western make-up artist I’ve seen who has addressed this type of eye.

I have a very similar eye shape to this model (which by the way is STUNNING) and find it hard to adapt makeup that requires to blend colour into the crease because my crease is non existent ahahaha. And my lid space is very small, so maybe you can do more tutorials for us girls with this type of eyes?

Agreed!! I think it's hard to distinguish when makeup gurus (not that Lisa is one of them particularly!) talk about the 'crease' when they really mean the socket line... Some of us may not/have a crease where their eye socket actually ends.

Best navy-blue smoky eye tutorial I've come across! Very sultry and sensuous while also being very classy and elegant. Makes me think of jazz nights. I can't find Dior's Bleu de Paris palette in stores anymore, but the matte navy and grey-blue shimmer used in this tutorial are two very easy to find shades in other brands. Will definitely be getting Body Shop's Midnight Blue too.

I did this look this evening just to see how it would come out. Came out very nice. I did notice that you must pay particular attention to the under eye especially with this look. If you have darkness underneath, this entire look can appear as if someone blackened your eye lol. So I was very careful with the under eye concealer. The look takes some getting used to but the more I looked at it, the more elegant it became. Thanks Lisa!

I loved that you asked the model about her concerns with the subject and then gave her advice. That sort of feedback is absolutely gold for us as the audience. Eg. If you had a model that was really freckly, asking her what comes up for her when applying foundation or concealer and responding would help us freckly gals as we share similar concerns. It is about as close as we can get to receiving personal advice from you and no doubt very teaching helpful for make up students as well.

This is so helpful, I'm only 1/4 Chinese but I have so many elements of East Asian features, like Hanako says, no sockets and what I view as small eyelids with a lack of strong crease, oh and the straightest and shortest eyelashes known to man. Frustratingly I have blue eyes making a real mismatch of skin tone and eye colour but you are an artist! What you've done is amazing. And Hanako looks be-ay-ootiful as always. Lisa's been recommended for my best friend's wedding, def want to get involved!

Oh I LOVE this look! Thank you so much for doing this one. I have naturally brown eyes with a lot of yellow/gold in the iris (they glow gold like a cat's eyes in the sunlight, lol)...BUT I wear sapphire blue contact (prescription) on a daily basis. That tip of going over the dark shadow with a lighter one on the area where the socket should be sounds really interesting. As a monolid girl I always think that my options for eye make up are more limited, so it's nice to hear that you don't have to overly fake a socket or to just keep shadow near the lash line.
