Thank you so much for this great video. My husband and I are moving to Nazaré in July. Have a lovely place 1/2 way up to sítio with a great view. Wish you were going to still be there when we arrive. In the meantime, I have taught my American coworkers to use the term "busting for the loo" because it makes me laugh! ❤️

It's lovely to hear from you, Tonia, thank you. Congratulations on your upcoming move to Nazaré in July. We're hoping to be back again in August to housesit, so we might bump into each other. I'm trying to remember when I said "busting for the loo" and think it was in the Cascais to Guincho video... so disappointed there weren't any public toilets open en route in January. Good on you for teaching your coworkers a new phrase! 😃😁👏 ~ Mandy

Yes! The perfect vlog! Proving that being outside, especially at the coast can be invigorating, life affirming and of course free! Those views, sunsets and the excitement of nature's magnificence watching those waves... you must get so many natural highs. Also there is something special about local produce eaten outside. I love seeing what you have for your picnic lunches! The Brazilian restaurant, just stunning food at an unbelievable price! Libraries... not been to one abroad... great tip! Update: The Balkans did not let me down. £321 for 15 days so £21.40 per day. I made sensible choices most of the time but of course if I wanted a drink or a meal at a local restaurant I had it (picking a local dish). I loved the Tavce Gravce beans! I also bought a few small souvenirs and went kayaking! The people I met were incredible too. And we talked, alot, great conversation, not looking at phones. And a frugal development.. I am returning to volunteer at a hostel in North Macedonia in July. It's at Lake Ohrid and one of the best hostels I have stayed at and best of all there is a folk festival whilst I am there! Like your carnival... amazing! I just formed a good rapport with the owner then asked if they wanted help this summer. Looking forward to your next film. You inspire me so much! I hope you don't mind me sharing my updates. 🇲🇰😃

That's such a wonderful comment, Julie, thank you! We always love hearing from you, and reading about your own frugal travels... they're inspiring and hopefully will be helpful to other frugal travellers 😃😁 We're both huge fans of libraries and always gravitate towards them. In Perth alone we belonged to 5 different libraries! There were some amazing modern libraries in the Baltic states, and I remember going to a very old library in Nairobi in 2011, with the reference books dating back to the 1970s. Nowadays libraries are a great place to relax, and many even have cafes attached! Yes, there's nothing like sitting on a cliff, watching the sunset over the ocean... truly magnificent, and best of all, completely free! I'm pleased that you feel the same way. Congratulations on arranging to volunteer at the hostel on Lake Ohrid in July... that will be an amazing experience! 👏😃😁 ~ Mandy

Does Lee do all the editing or do you both do it? I think I vaguely recall that you both do some?
@FrugalTravellers2 жыл бұрын
We take turns making videos, and tend to steer towards our interests ie Lee makes most of the travel videos as is into his maps etc, and I like combining a few days worth of clips to make a video about a place. I think Lee has better technical skills, while I really enjoy sharing odd snippets and facts about places. The endings tend to show who's made a video, as Lee uses an end screen template, whereas I finish with photos of menus, buildings and street art 😃😁 ~ Mandy

@@FrugalTravellers ahh so you, Mandy, did this one. 😃

@@PlanetImo I meant to say this was my video in my first reply... I then realised that you would be one of the few people interested and engaged enough to actually notice! I made most of the Setúbal & Cascais videos, Lee made standalone videos like Caldas da Rainha and Our 21 Years of Travelling... but I made Óbidos so it really depends on who wants to do what! I love making museum videos, even though they rarely do well, but if it interests and helps 100 people, I'm happy. I really hope we get to meet one day, and make a few video together! 😃😁 ~ Mandy

@@PlanetImo Exactly the same for us. I made videos on former prisons in Eastern and Central Europe & Iraqi Kurdistan, knowing that they wouldn't appeal to most people but I wanted to share the tragic stories from those places, and the people who did watch, were very pleased to have seen the videos. For me, I would like my videos to be informative, educational and interesting... viewing numbers are never the main goal ~ Mandy

Hello Thomas. Thank you for your great question. We spent 4 nights in a hostel in Nazaré in November 2021, when there were still lockdowns, so prices were lower than usual. Thank you for your lovely comment, lucchese20. We absolutely love libraries, and always manage to find one... I just realised we hadn't shown any for quite a while! Most libraries we've visited around the world have a foreign language section, so in Oz/NZ/UK we'd have books in Portuguese and other languages...and it's the same in Portugal Always a great place to go and chill out for the day if you want a break from travelling or bad weather! 😃😁 ~ Mandy
