The Everly Brothers in the 50s or 60s were the first to record this song but it has been covered by many artists. This version is by far one of the best I’ve ever heard. The lead singer is a true artist and his voice is amazing. The guitar player actually makes his guitar “cry”. This was in the day when singers had to able to sing and musicians could play instruments.

Brilliant! My favourite version of this song. Dan's voice is just so freakin' good!! Actually there's a lot of Brit bands from "back in the day" who had front men with fantastic unique voices... everyone reacts to Queen, Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, etc, but so many great ones (with amazing lead singers) have been missed - like Nazareth (and Dan's vocals), Slade (Noddy Holder), Sweet (Brian Connolly), Free & Bad Company (Paul Rodgers), Zombies & Argent (Rod Argent), Small Faces & Humble Pie (Steve Marriott), E.L.O. (Jeff Lynne), etc. Even Smokie to a degree - their music was way more "laid back" but that raspy voice of Chris Norman was definitely unmistakable & memorable.

After he's done Nazareth, if he even wants to listen to any other band, he definitely needs to do Slade and Sweet, so many great songs that people in NA don't know about, or only heard for a week in 72.

People today don’t realize how huge the Everly Brothers were when they hit the scene. In a way they were the bridge between Elvis and The Beatles. And their music hasn’t dated at all. Now they’re a bit underrated. People need to react more to them.

Good to see you reacting again JB, it was the Everley Brothers who sang this first, but the Nazareth version is SO good . Dan McCafferty the lead singer of Nazareth, at age 71 was still singing this song live in 2017, maybe he is still singing it now. Such a great singer. Please listen to Bad Bad Boy by Nazareth, and This Flight Tonight by Nazareth, and so many more.

I’m 16 and I’ve been listening to older bands and people such as the who, the Rolling Stones, fleetwood mac, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, dire straits and the list goes on, I like old music because it’s more about story telling than just sex, drugs and money and because of that I will never listen to and enjoy modern music the same way I do classic music

Great band. Didn't really get big here in the states and most people don't realize that they put out somewhere around 30 albums with the same band members. You should check out Hair of the Dog. The entire album was awesome, and probably their hardest rock album. They did a lot of rock ballads also. Great band from Scotland. Thank you for checking them out. Another hit here in the states by them was Holiday. Pretty cool tune...
