Finally a great scream technique.. I was already familiar with vocal fry stuff but I never tought you can produce a tone like this.. You are a great teacher and you are doing it right.. a lot of singers just strain their neck muscles and it causes a lot of damage

During the one moment when you transitioned into a clean tone vibrato it was clear that you were exhaling the whole time. I'm surprised because I thought screams like Dani Filth's could only be performed while inhaling. I can do the Nazgul scream while inhaling but I can never replicate what you're doing with an exhaled scream. It's impressive and I'll try your steps. Thanks for the tutorial!

I discovered this effect on my own a while ago and although I can usually do it right after warming up my vocals, it tends to die down after a while of fry screaming. Sometimes it might be because scream too hard and use other techniques, but the effect always seems to go away after about 20 minutes. Your video is very insightful and useful though and it's so fricken awesome someone put up a video about this effect. Hopefully following these instructions I'll be able to get the effect all the time.

Hi Dave thank you for the kind words and the cool recommendation, I didn't know the guys. When the voice travels up there, there aren't many choices. You go even wrong or right. Eventually most singers globally who discovered their voice are using the same paths with light variations and I do the same. TK

Thank you for this Belmer. The screamo zone is a completely separate vocal channel and the base is the fry indeed but in its loose version. If you find the fragmented fry as I demonstrate in the beginning then all the rest are unfolding almost automatically along with very solid support. Let me know it goes! TK
@UltimatevocalistPlus11 жыл бұрын
Oh boy it's so difficult to describe this with words! Good question though. Please play and pause the video in full screen many times and try to imitate this cracking. It feels like you completely release everything in your cavities and let the resonance flow to the superhead. Like small children playing and naturally screaming super notes, something like that! TK

+Cardinal Ethic thank you for the kind feedback. I copy/paste me response from another question above on exactly the same step. You need to allow you vocal fry to fragment (sometimes we call it 'neutral fry'). Be patient and keep practising, this is the most focal and difficult point of the entire drill. If you locate this, the whole technique will unlock in front of your eyes. Let us know how it goes. Best, TK.

Hi Jony, thanks for the question. You see, one of the golden principles here is to guide the normal vocal tone to the place where it fragments like it breaks into a million pieces. But this has no pressure at all, but exploration of the right spot. Please listen and watch closely the right step, pause and imitate. It needs practice and patience. If you need more help send again please, I'm happy to analyze more in your inbox. TK

Your videos are amazing. I guess if u can help me with a little problem I have doing this technique. I can do all 3 first steps nice, but when I try to reach the high notes I cant do it in my mixed voice, only in falsetto. Im learning to sing and I use normally my mixed voice to sing without that distortion, but I dont know why doing this my voice just goes to falseto in high notes. I dont know what I am doing wrong. Tkank you anyway, you are great.
@UltimatevocalistPlus10 жыл бұрын
werchwerch werch many thanks for the great feedback. First you need to consolidate your first mix and then the second into the high mix. Make the transition smooth, solid and confident. This is a general key component regarding contemporary vocals. Afterwards please notice that this technique actually follows a neutral flow than the default front flow. The first steps till you produce the neutral fry are the most important here, try to find the exact sense. Think of it like a pipe placed in the middle of your head communicating from bottom to top. Carry on with patience and let me know how it goes. TK

Before I put any questions, I wanna say thank you for your videos. I just suscribe. Now, gotta tell you that i feel a little frustrated about this technic 'cause it seems to require head resonance, and i can't find a way to use it. But I never found out how to sound really whiney or 'high pitched'. I would prefer having screams like: Orchid - I am Nietzsche (special case) Saetia - the burden of reflecting But I sound like black metal vocalists such as: Minas morgul - Mutter Erde Any tips, on how to get higher or getting my falsetto into the fry????

I notice you are able to reach very high pitched notes. I know how to do vocal fry, and I've managed to switch from that distorsion to regular voice, like you demonstrated. I'm curious to know how you managed to obtain that extra high pitch note, that many characterise it as the Nazgûl scream.

Hi there. Be careful with this, the distortion production demands different tools and far more energetic front flow. This is why the drills for these two techniques are completely different, watch many times for their details. This is far more abstract and fragmented. Needs more strategy and less technique I would say. TK
