NBA 2K23 NEWS UPDATE - THE MAJOR DOWNFALL

The comp community is usually the worst at playing regular basketball. They can't make reads as a PG, they can't play defense if it isn't zone, and they depend heavily on knowing the cheese, knowing the meta, and using that to beat competition instead of just being a better hooper than most. And usually, they're also the most toxic especially when they aren't touching the ball as much as they think they should. When the cheese changes to something they can't use, they complain and trash the game until the devs give in and change the game to their liking to the detriment of the rest of the community. The sooner we get these guys out the game, the better.

@@austin31697 But certain changes have side effects and unintended consequences. Take the 6'9" builds with Interceptor for example, adding them, made folks less likely to pass the rock. We've been complaining about the rim contests and getting hacked in the air with no fouls for years now, that leads to a more outside shooting. There are going to be things that always get complained about, but only one community consistently complains about their style play being the only way to play.

I think online gaming was the worse thing to happen to gaming which is why we're here now getting charge to buy the game and getting charged to play it. Even crazier to pay online subscription just to play another feature of the game. It took me too many years to realize that this is dirty. I went back to the way I grew up and that's playing offline and not getting sucked in by online special pathetic rewards. Imagine thinking those season rewards are free. Free. They cost money to to progress to the next level or past a certain level you'll need a subscription service.

The so called comp community didn’t just ruin 2K, it ruined most online multiplayer games as well (Madden, COD, etc). Instead of playing for fun, people have become so focused on being competitive that has caused the majority of people to only follow metas as opposed to having a unique play style. It’s to the point where I sometimes even tell my friends that I’d rather just run with randoms in Rec and play a casual game than in some intense Pro Am where everyone is so uptight that winning doesn’t even feel enjoyable. At the end of the day, video games are supposed to be fun. I don’t want to get online after a long day just to run into try hards that are playing as if their life depended on the game.

I used to run with this kid when I played center for a year and all he said was I'm comp I'm comp but couldn't make a read or a smart pass all he could do was cheese we lost almost every game, I made a pg and made him play big for a change and we started winning because I knew how to drive and kick and draw doubles and pass out. I swear even in the 2K16-17 days when "comp" was taking off they didn't really bother the casual community like that. They stayed on their side in the Ante-Up or Pro-Am and rarely came down to Park with that shit. You could still play hours in Park or Rec and have fun and not have to worry too much about some sweats coming. Nowdays if you ain't "comp" you don't matter to this community lol.

I loved the op steals it added balance. As a defensive player I can adapt but nerfing steals lost me. I get that 2k makes changes to drive revenue and players pay to b offensive threats but it ultimately becomes a downfall resulting in everyone making the same kinda builds playing the same way, etc.

When I try to squad up in communities they literally see me as trash even though i’m probably better and have more 2k experience than them. It’s pretty pathetic what 2k has become. You have PG who'd rather chuck three and ball hog than make their teamates better to win.. had a PG last night go 6/15 from the field and literally ruined the game while played SG and took my time and took good shots and had the same amount of pts in half the shots.. but it's not about real basketball it's about cheesing and exploiting the game instead of playing basketball... There are really good players in our community with low win % and a low level. I blame the major of our community for adopting the mindset of every random sells or isn't good. We create people that will struggle or shoot any shot etc. after 3-4 games + not touching the ball because we have left basic basketball principles behind. A person's skill can't be determined if you don't give them opportunity or include them in the game plan. You can't get the ball as a passing PG in this 2k generation now, that's sad. We have a common scenario where a person is WIDE OPEN not getting a pass and their defender knows so they leak EVERY play then they get blamed for the points scored. 1v1 is the ONLY mode were you don't rely on anyone else otherwise you NEED every member on the team. We NEED to get back to team play overall, offensively and defensively. We, as a whole, have tore down our community. We, honestly, don't know who is really good nor do we try to find out. It's sad to say that if you want a better than 50% then you MUST run with a full squad always and that be a fact. I have a build I only use with a full squad on goat level and my other builds fluctuate between casual to baller. It is getting worse every year. COMP players don't just win. They see the whole game, use every available person and give respect. You can get gg from the opposite team and acknowledgement that you were sold out by your team from COMP players. Brute you and others are doing your best hopefully things change for the better.

I hate the shot mechanic this year it’s good when someone is playing defense but it’s terrible when you can’t fix ghost contest something 2k has countless problems with I made shots where the defender wasn’t near by at all and I get blinders activated and deadeye that alone should tell you shot contest need to be look at also take out the dam rim running I swear you never can’t block this dunk at all I’ve seen small guards use that dunk on centers in there face ridiculous

Still love this game even tho i know what 2k is doing isn't right. I play alot of Comp,Rec 5v5 pro-am and 3v3 pro-am I love the challenge but those 6'1 builds are a curse to humanity and happiness. Dribble Cheese, Fade Threes and Rim Running has plagued 2k. We have to find the right balance because alot of people are abusing these vulnerabilities. There is no circumstance that one move, one animation can beat everything fix please.

If 2k made comboing moves more rewarding or timing a crossover as a defender, more rewarding, like better animations where you feel like your in the game actually experiencing these events. There are key points in a game where you can make a difference in real time and the user who captures these should be rewarded. It shouldn't be a move or a dribble package winning the game. Or because I can michael jordan speed boast out of standing still left and right. Nobody in real time can execute these type of animations bring that authentic feel back.

People are defaulting to rim running if they are not coordinated enough to play make for them selves. Because basically if you don't no the cheese move you can't dribble effectively which shouldnt be the case unless your a big man you should be able to dribble effectively without having to spam. Nobody in the NBA is standing still moonwalking left and right give us something more fluid 2k

I agree. Reason why i run a lot of rec also with a lot of randoms. On my KG build. The build ppl say is not comp cause i don't shoot 3's. And "Who shoots middies??? 3 better than 2." What they say. Until I'm post fading, sparking middies all over the court, slamming on them, going 12/12 from the field, etc. Like I don't like the comp community cause honestly it kills the diversity of the game. And honestly hope next 2K if they do quest it's more featured around Rec and less My Team. Honestly my team should have its OWN legend grind. So we can start getting some rewards for rec as well. And hopefully the accomplishments are more team basketball oriented. Lastly. Hope they do something like if u switch builds, your stats match the build u usually run with when u look at the leader boards. And and when u check your overall points reb assist, etc, they can then show the total then. But honestly let your averages match the build u bring out. I be wanting to see tht sometimes.
