I know Rick Pitino was happy for Larry Bird to stay in the Celtics organisation when he took over. Bird said he didn;t want to be seen to be looking over Rick's shoulder and left for Indiana. In hindsight the Celtics should of let Bird become the General Manger. He has had great success at Indiana as a General Manager and as a coach.
