I'm sure the CPU isn't fouling late in the game for the same reason it *_is_* still dunking, even though dunks are 0 points: The CPU's tactics don't take the mod into account. So it's not fouling because it thinks the game is out of reach.

yeah that is true, last year with this mod where I could change the scores, 2k still thought the games were close because they would keep track of the actual score if it were normal rules. (For example I could be up by 150 on the score board, but with normal rules in the game I would only be up by 2 points, so the cpu would still foul) But looks like this year they look at the scoreboard score instead of what the score would be with normal 2s and 3s. Becuase the games were a lot closer that way, think I only one by 2 or 3 points one of the games if it were normal rules.

9:24 I’m guessing it’s capped at 255=2^8-1 since they use a single byte to store the score and it looks back to 0 when you add 1 to it

The score maxes at 255 because it is the greatest signed integer for a byte. It's the same reason why many other games like pacman and tetris break at level 256.
