Bronco you have got to react to (Lionel Messi At Absolute Peak Of His Powers), in 2012 he literally scored 91 goals and had 22 assists (113G/A) in just 69 games, to put things into perspective second best year an athlete has had in football is Cristiano Ronaldo with 69 goals and 15 assists in 59 games, great year nonetheless but nowhere near of what Messi did in 2012, everybody knew once the game started he would score not even the injuries could stop him, that was sumn like 2011-12 LeBron James.
What a trio Van Basten, Gullit and Rijkaard was! Unstoppable

I might be fan boying but whenever i watch a legend's video like this, i realize even more how good Messi is ..this is arguably the best 9 in football's history, scored 44 goals in a season, messi is a playmaker who scored 73 goals in a season. 😬 And Messi super hat tricked a ballon d'or (4 back to back) ..

Messi is the best player of all time but take into consideration 44 goals in the 80's era was nothing sort of impossible as the defences were much more solid and backed compared to nowadays.

Different league. Different ballgame Italian football. Famous for Catenaccio (Italian pronunciation: [kateˈnattʃo]) or The Chain is a tactical system in football with a strong emphasis on defence. In Italian, catenaccio means "door-bolt", which implies a highly organised and effective backline defence focused on nullifying opponents' attacks and preventing goal-scoring opportunities.

Van Basten's ankle was in bad shape for most of his career, after suffering fouls in the Dutch league. He often played with painkilling injections. Thus further ruining his ankle. The foul in Italy was just the final blow (together with his trust in some, in hindsight very sketchy doctors botching surgery). It's a sad story about how his own disregard for his body combined with a surrounding staff more focused on results than player wellbeing and medical doctors looking for fame instead of taking care of a patient, cut short a career and led to permanent disability.

Marco was a great player but two of his ballon d'or's he was not the better player then Stoichkov or Schmeichel not to mention that till 1996 south american's,african and asian players was not eligible for the reward. Marco spend most of his career injured the only good period he played was 1987-1991 after that he was shadow of his former self a career finish far to early. I will argue that he was not better then Gullit or Bergkamp for the Dutch national team and as player both had more influence of the game of football then Marco ever had. The players who was inspired by Marco coming to my mind are just tree Berbatov,Zlatan and Bergkamp but currently there is not one player who can do the things on the pitch like the players i mentioned the reason a tall forward with passing abilities and excellent first touch it's a luxury for the paste game we have now which is shame....in the same breath there is not many poachers and scorers to left in the game....
