Hey John, We meet at SFGE briefly. Can't wait till all the Northerners of our generation start retiring and coming down here and realize they can't keep all their games and start unloading. That's when the South shall rise again-home arcade-wise. I actually grew up in NJ with beach and mall arcades. Anyway, I have to say you crushed it with this video!! You even anticipated and addressed viewer questions on the fly, like your new ride-lol-knowing your audience. The down to earth human element is what makes you so enjoyable to watch. This episode...1- Little suspense 2-you kicked up the production value 2-New game pickup 3-I learned something 4-I saw an everyman's basement arcade 5-learned a little arcade history 6--re-exposed me to a forgotten game-can you say fire-up the MAME attack? I bet a 4-player Sente Mini Golf with beers for bucks would be awesome-think twice about swapping that game for chicken shift -same with your High Impact- you'd be surprised how fun 4 players can be when it's not always scrolling characters to the right kicking everything? Thanks so much for hooking us up with an extra video this week and the best one of the year at that in my humble opinion. I laughed-I cried-i shat the bed.

Congrats on the pickup John and awesome video. I picked up a Bally Sente Mini Golf this summer for $100.00. It was in a Galaga cabinet. I never heard of the mini golf game before but I bought it for the Galaga cabinet. I have since restored the cabinet back to a Galaga; however, I still have everything complete and ready to drop back into a cabinet one day. I have been looking for one of these cabinets but they are like impossible to find it seems. So jealous you found one. Great find. Take care.

. . . I'm already seeing a new project for the MAME guys. Namely the CEM3394 sound chips (six in total with one channel each) were treated like the Commodore 64's SID chip, when they really were more like FM synth-based cause of the filtering involved. At least I thought the one Gimme A Break I played in person was FM-based at the time, and MAME made me think I remembered wrong all these years. Congratulations, John, for your vid just proved my suspicions! :D Also, about that Anonymous fourth email... I do believe that describes the fabled Bouncer game from 1983. Please... GET. THAT. GAME. It might actually be the first step of many in the process of making a legendary game more real than even Polybius!

To put Chicken Shift on it, you will need a 14 ROM position board since it's a 13 ROM game. Everything else should be the same as far as I can tell. No idea though, just going off the pdf's and Google. Looks like a great game, congrats on the new cabinet!

Well, I think John should offer the guy 50$ for said (B)roken game, take it from said letter writer's (O)bviously aging grandparents, (U)nderstandably relieving them of the (N)uisance of repairing it, (C)arrying it, storing it etc., and bring it to John's (E)xcellent garage so that he can kindly dump the (R)oms into mame, so that everyone can enjoy them. Then possibly refurbish said game, and make a video, showcasing its gameplay. ;)

Snake Pit is also an awesome Bally/Sente game. As for the mail with the veiled reference to Bouncer, you never know. You have a video of a Sky Skipper machine on your channel, so stranger things have happened. Ask him for some cellphone pictures with a selfie or two with the cab. Those would be hard to fake.

Would be fun to have a multi board adapter for that Sente, especially if you had a few games with similar control schemes.

@Scythe427 жыл бұрын
The Mini Golf / Mini Golf Deluxe ROM carts share the same layout with Chicken Shift, so a ROM swap should be all you need. Though there are several different ROM version out there, depending on the size of the EPROMs used (e.g.16KB/32KB). So some testing probably required maybe merging ROMs.

I wish there was someone in the community that could create the Bally Sente equivalent of a 4-Slot Neo Geo, that way you could have Mini Golf, Billiards, Chicken Shift etc in the cabinet together and have a button combination to switch between them like you do with your Golden Tee cabinet; I'm sure that would make your Bally Sente a true hit with your Family ^_^

John, andrewb here. Are the 8351 and 8352 numbers on the ROM board chips the date codes of those chips, or the part numbers? They sound more like date codes, but I could be wrong. If these boards are all basically the same, we could do a 'master/mega Sente card' that has a single large ROM with all ROMs for all of the SAC-1 games on it, and some sort of switch mechanism. I just picked up a SAC-1, same as yours. It's got Gimme A Break in it, but I want to play the other games as well, so I'll be looking into it.

Mini golf was a favorite of mine and also Gimme A Break, and Stocker back when I was a teen living in Las Vegas and my mom would play at a local casino and I would spend all that time in the casino's arcade, Gimme A Break and mini golf are one of those the harder you spin the faster your ball goes, I got really good at both of those, but Stocker was always a challenge to get to the end, and someone commented earlier, that Bram Stoker's Dracula was great and also one of my favorite pins, along with Addams Family and Simpsons Party. Thanks John for this and good Machines Nick!
