As a spanish man, that Spain vs USA is one of the best games I've ever watched. The USA team was just crazy, and Spain could've actually won, both teams played some out of this world basket, but in the end Kobe took over. We've always loved Kobe here, he was just on another level.

True. That Redeem team was one of the best US teams and for Spain to go toe to toe was really impressive.
@brianmao5296
@brianmao5296 Жыл бұрын
It says something about how great that Spanish team was, with the Gasol bros, Rudy Fernandez, a young Ricky Rubio, Jose Calderon, etc - a team that didn't just have NBA talent but All-Star NBA talent, that was able to go toe to toe with the Redeem Team in 2008 and also in 2012. That 2008 team would have utterly crushed the 2004 USA team by 20 points and also the 2000 team as well. Even the Dream Team would have had trouble putting away that 2008 Spain Team. I think the only International Teams that were on the same level as the 2008 Team was the 2004 Argentina Team and also a hypothetical 1992 Team Yugoslavia.

Kobe is the GOAT in my book. His greatness goes beyond his stellar NBA career. His understanding of the meaning of this 08 Redeem Team moment, what it would take to bring his young talented teammates to where they needed to be in a couple weeks, the sacrifice of the spotlight so his teammates would stay motivated,, and then delivering when the gold medal game was in doubt after sitting back offensively all Olympics. On top of it he showed his Laker teammate Pau the mentality he would need towards opponents to avoid losing again like they just did to Boston. It is an all time Basketball great moment No matter how much the NBA and media tried to push LeBron, the whole world witnessed the Black Mamba become the GOAT in that moment.

Kobe asked my friend how a music recording console works. My friend said, “you want the 5 minute version or the 30 minute version?” Kobe asked for the 30 minute lecture. Then he asked my friend if he could repeat back everything to make sure he got it all. He repeated back everything verbatim. My friend, who has recorded everybody in every entertainment field, said the only person he ever worked with who was that smart was Prince.

There's no harder worker on the planet than Kobe. There may be others like him. And also everyday folks I'm sure who are always working just to survive. But Kobe's as dedicated as any in human history. And his passion and dedication inspired a generation. As a kid growing up, watching Kobe inspired me to love the sport of basketball and to push myself harder and harder in work ethic. I'm 30 now, and I wish he was still around today to continue set an example on how to lead a life of success and dedication going into middle age and old age. Kobe really ushered in the idea of working hard and practicing at the highest level no matter. When he was still in high school he said the NBA was weak cuz no one was working hard.

EVERY friend I called that day was crying. Every guy and tough dude and people who i didn't think even had feelings was crying. His death was unlike any other I have ever experienced. We watched him grow before our eyes. He was unreal the way he played.

Kobe was still calling Mike late at night around 3am even after he retired asking for advise. Mike was annoyed by it, but mentioned it in his speech and said he would give anything for another late night call from him 😥

It’s interesting how some out Tim Duncan ahead of Kobe. Tim Duncan was a part of those teams that got their assess kicked prior to 2008. These guys on the 08 team explain the difference between the determination & tenaciousness of the two players without even mentioning Duncan who was just a part of the losing culture…Kobe helped to change the culture to a winning culture.
@dhinton1
@dhinton1 2 жыл бұрын
to be fair to Tim Duncan .... he didn't really want to be on the 2004 squad. He knew he'd be the ONLY big for team USA and he would get pounded relentlessly by teams that had bigs for days. a LOT of NBA players opted NOT to play for team USA in 2004. THAT culture wasn't on Tim at all. if anything, the 12 that went to play deserve kudos for going knowing that they'd likely get their ass kicked and would be blamed for losing.

Yeah Kobe is just a better ball player period than Duncan. He checks off so many boxes. Big men are most of the time ranked amongst themselves. Duncan has a better argument there.

Guy, Bosh, Bron, Wade, Melo, they were not the same players in 08 that they were in 04. By 08, Bron had been to the Finals, Wade had a chip. Like comparing the talent between the two teams is completely different. Now, is Tim better than Kobe, no I wouldn’t go that far, and I’m a Spurs fan. But using the comparison of the 04 and 08 Olympics is a dumb argument. There are so much better arguments to make

Kobe and Pau had just lost to Boston in the NBA finals a few weeks earlier because Boston was tougher and meaner. Kobe sent that message to Pau so he knew where he needed to get to become the Black Swan. It is no doubt that the moment Kobe ran Pau over was the start of the transformation of Pau into the skilled maniac he was in Game 7 2010 Finals rematch with Boston. Thanks to acquiring the Mamba Mentality, Pau played like he was having an out of body experience in that Game 7 when they got their revenge against Boston. How cool to see how in the 08 Olympics Kobe still built up a teammate to the greatest version of himself even as he treated him with zero compassion as an opponent

@cjtrules1 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrEliasdl Man what are you talking about? This video clearly tells us all that Kobe ran into Pau to set the tone for the Olympic game, not for future NBA seasons. That wasn't to better Pau, it was to send a message to him and his Spanish teammates that Kobe wasn't going to be sheepish around Pau and it told Kobe's teammates that he's going to do whatever he has to in order to win. Whatever Pau took afterwards is on Pau, not Kobe.

@P. Delor, Sr. Of course Kobe did things to push his teammates to be better but this wasn't even close to the 2009 finals. Even if this was the best thing ever, Pau would have forgotten parts of it at the very least. It doesn't make sense to send your teammate a lesson you hope they remember almost a year in the future.
