Cool, I would like to try to play with those old lego sports games.

I bought a few of the old Lego NBA store display pieces so got back into these a year or so ago. The shooting a basketball function works surprisingly well and captured my 5 year olds attention for 20 min!

I wish they still made these. I had several of the basic sets that didn't have real players from when I was a kid and they were coming out. I've collected a few of the real players since (I think I have about 8 of them). My first real player was Steve Nash because he was my favorite player when he was on the Suns. It'd be really cool to see them come back out this these with some modern players. Cool to hear that you have a few of these, and neat to hear you bought these still in your dark ages.

Never understood why Dirk was the only one that got a hairpiece. I was hoping they would keep making these and do retired models layers too. My guess is the NBA saw how messed of the faces were and pulled the license. While I got mine on clearance - a ton of these didn’t even make it to clearance. According to Kevin Hinkle - they had to pull these from the she loves and destroy them. I think when I first posted videos on these there were still below retail price on the after market but that’s changed now finally. I didn’t know it when these came out but there were gold variants of the cards randomly in some boxes. I don’t think anybody collected these for the cards though

Yeah my dirk Nowitzki card is a gold parallel. Yeah I’m not sure if they are sought after any more than the regular cards are. And yes the faces are not appealing

Those figures are really cool. Never knew they existed. I like the springs and the play feature.

Kobe is prob the only desirable one. They all should be more value then they are

I wasn't collecting when they were released, and i haven't watched the nba since Jordan retired. But as former card collector and now lego fan, i think they're pretty cool. I'd like to see a mlb series, preferably in a cmf format with a card and stand. Probably a long shot, but we've had nba, european football, and now f1, so who knows, maybe it could?

Air ball is probably the term you were looking for at the end. My younger brother might have had one or two back then, but we were and still are a hockey family. I think the NHL ones were in another company at a later point, but I have some random NHL logo stickers from LEGO from somewhere. I should probably look into that later
@jasonsbricksin5Күн бұрын
Yes that is a much better term to use lol Yeah Lego did hockey as well I vaguely remember.

I don't have any of these. I was never into sports in general, but my brother and I did get some of the soccer sets a little before the NBA sets. My thoughts on these minifigs was that it was a really interesting mechanic for them, and I'd be interested to play with it and see how it worked, but my priorities were on Star Wars, Bionicle and Alpha Team around that time. Cool though, I definitely have things like that, in the category of "I don't collect anything like this, but I want that particular set. For me it was one of the Star Wars "Planets" sets, because it was the Death Star. :D

I have many of those “I don’t collect those but I want that set” too. But it’s a slippery slope because I don’t have the space for what I do collect.

I never had any of these because I don't believe LEGO made any figures to represent the Pacers. Then again, it's not like the Pacers had 2 All-Stars, defensive player of the year, the slam dunk champion, and the best record in the Eastern Conference. (And a fan base bitter about always being overlooked in favor of the Knicks, Celtics, Bulls, or whoever else had a bigger TV market.)

Wait, in my how to be a Hoosier manual, it says i am supposed to like the Celtics because of the Hick from French Lick... 😂😂
@joe-bowlingКүн бұрын
@BrickTrains My earliest memories of remembering sports are around 1980 and at that point Bird was a Celtic and 8-year-old me had no idea he was from Indiana. I don't think my family counted players being from Indiana unless they played for IU.
@BrickTrainsКүн бұрын
@joe-bowling my grand dad was a huge Larry Bird fan. When the Celtics where playing nothing else mattered. 😄
@jasonsbricksin5Күн бұрын
Well I don’t think they made a Larry bird. But could t they have made a Reggie miller figure?

Hi Jason. My thorts is why thay dident last is cas when thos set s was around their was far less adults s into Lego and only odd few parents buying them for thay kids that whanted them even tho NBA is popular world wide not sure if thay. Was saleing thos. Set s in Australia back then. The Soccer set s to are alike yes NBA is popular in USA. But Lego has all way s been pricey to your avridge person. With not all that much extra one s so only the lucky kids would of been getting Thea's set s and due to not as Manny buying them Lego probly dis continued that line of set s

Price is always an issue either way Lego unfortunately.
