The Rockets were in a period where they should have broke up there big 3 team a lot sooner. They needed better ball handlers, along with more 3 point shooters. Scottie Pippen had ball control for the majority of the time during that season, and he was not making too much use of it. The Rockets also made some trades to acquire Steve Francis the next season to help with their ball handling/3 point shooting issues.

The arrival of LeBron James became the future of the nba, over 2 decades later he still here, one of the last players from the early 2000s still playing was drafted in 2003 which was the early 00s but the end of it, 2004 was the start of the mid 2000s.
@PA-zt6xu4 ай бұрын
If you remember the NBC was trying to milk the lakers during their championship runs in 2000, 2001 and 2002 they would have the lakers on prime time every week. Then when ABC got the NBC deal they put in a deal where teams could only play so many prime time games a year on the network. Now even in the Sterns defense the rating dropped a little after MJ but not as much as the ratings dropped when the NBA moved from NBC to ABC and the league moving the all star game to cable. Those were the biggest reasons for the ratings falling. ABC / ESPN would put prime time games on ESPN / Cable instead of prime time national TV like NBC would. NBC made sure that NBA games came on network TV and were first priority. NBC would advertise the upcoming prime time game a week in advance of the broadcast of the game. Where as ABC / ESPN wouldn’t even advertise the upcoming nba game and barely promoted them. They would put NBA games on ESPN 2 and prioritize the NFL, MLB over the NBA. There were times ESPN would broadcast an NHL game on ESPN 1 and the NBA game would be on ESPN 2 or a MLB game would run over at ESPN 1 and they would tell fans to turn to ESPNews to see the beginning of the NBA game. It’s was just horrible and their broadcasting on NBA game till today is trash. That was and is the biggest reason for the bad ratings. But the league don’t care as long as Mickey continues to hand over billions to broadcast NBA games the league / Owners don’t care if they are broadcasted on ESPN 20 as long as them billions rolls in.
