The physicality in this series mirrored what was seen in the 80s. Handcheck legal, bruising play implored, and the games felt meaningful like it was the finals in the first round. Loved it. I remember it well. Awesome download.

I love this era basketball. You have to be mentally and physically tough to win. If you weren’t you weren’t going to win. That is the other reason I have so much respect for Jordan. Intimidation has essentially been legislated out of all professional sports!
@sumandsubstance78812 ай бұрын
The kids today are more skilled, but they don't play hard like they did back in the day. You don't see the hustle passion and toughness that true fans of not just basketball- but sports- can appreciate

And nobody complained to the league during this series before and after just mutual respect by both teams unlike Chicago with Phil Jackson and jordan. Which is why bill laimbeer shook the Knicks hands after the series and this series got very contentious

This series isn't really the "passing of the torch" because New York wasn't able to duplicate Detroit's success via rugged, tough play. The Knicks only adopted the physical style of play, but not the success that comes with it.
@dennisandrade74478 ай бұрын
That’s what made the Pistons unique; they had the defensive ruggedness AND offensive firepower with their backcourt of Thomas, Dumars, and Vinnie Johnson. The Knicks meanwhile replicated their defense but didn’t have any offense to supplement, relying too much on Starks for any offensive input.
@berniecioffoletti33985 ай бұрын
Vinnie Johnson was money off the bench.

Trading Xman and Jackson for Charles Smith and Doc Rivers was a bad move, McDaniels gave Pippen nightmares plus McDaniels wouldve helped Knicks against Rockets in 1994 finals.

True, even Michael said on MJ Air Time, “we thought we could walk straight through New York.” Which tbh as a fan I thought to because they swept NY during the regular season, had not lost to them since early 1990 and had not lost to NY in Chicago since 87.
