everyone gives AI all the credit, but Hardaway was the one who started that killer crossover movement

@@Asian2706 Not true. Not palming the ball equals a quicker dribble. That's why Tim always made his move out of a split stance, rather than having one foot significantly ahead of the other. Plus, palming is a violation which is why Iverson did it less and less as his career progressed.
@Asian2706 Жыл бұрын
@@ifheavenwashuman Palming ain’t a violation, that’s a myth, the reason why palming is effective is because it keeps your defender thinking. In this era of NBA where palming is more common, quick low crossovers aren’t effective anymore due to their high usage back in the day, these quick low dribbles only get pinned cause defenders who are strong enough can block the drive. Only those quick low dribbles are for driving. However, in a era where more premieres offense is played, palming is the much better option. Palming the ball doesn’t mean carrying it, there’s a different. Palming the ball is holding it in a manner that delays a dribble. That’s why the best handlers like Poole and Harden palm the ball, and the reason why quick cross handlers like Kyrie and Derrick Rose are quickly losing their offensive capabilities since the quick cross is quickly getting countered by stronger and smarter defender these days.

Best single move in history. Kyrie and AI are better ball handlers, but if you have to pick one move. It would be hardaways crossover. It's ridiculous that nobody has ever replicated it with his speed. Not even Kyrie, AI, Curry or any other great handler.
@chitownmo11 жыл бұрын
considerably more impressive. he used sound dribbling technique. low, fast, strong and deceptive. old school ball. no need to carry or use hesitation slides(sorry the ball is not suppose to come to a stop in your hand that is a carry which Iverson and other players did and do regularly in todays nba. only tony parker, chris paul and kyrie irving dribble old school style)

Carrying should never have been a rule in the first place. Basketball is an object. Dribbling is an art. People should be able to grip and feel on it and perform whatever trickery that’s necessary.
@chitownmo3 жыл бұрын
@@SL-pg4dh I disagree. Anyone can do it then. It is no longer a refined skill. Modern rules make it too easy. When a player can practically hop and skip with the ball dead in his hand, how is that creative or skillful?
@SL-pg4dh3 жыл бұрын
@@chitownmo I understand your point. Obviously you can’t make the rule too easy to the point where it becomes meaningless. But at the same time i believe that the regulation shouldn’t become too rigid that it gets in the way of creativity and the baller’s ability to express. The palming call is what i take issue with. I don’t believe it should be a rule. It hampers ballers ability to contort to the maximum. It confines ballers to only be able to make a handset of pre set moves over and over that everyone just copies. The ability to be one with the ball, hold it and do whatever you want with it, allows the baller the maximum creative expression. They’ve been relaxing the palming rule steadily as the years go by. If you back as far the 40s and 50s, where guys where only able to dribble with one hand, and on the top of the ball, they look pathetic and does not make for a fun experience.

@trashthethrasher 1. start and stay low. do rhythm dribbles(slow to moderate speed to get body and ball synchronized to the move i.e. back and forth with head. torso and feet moving in direction of ball not just across the body). 2. power dribbles(the move repeatedly fast as possible with control to simulate game speed). 3. use the move with finishes and jumpshots in reps of 5(starting depending on hand eye coordination)-20 repetitions per hand.

I think D-wade has got the best one, well in his early years.It's not just about the explosiveness but the timing that makes a good crossover.Kobe employed something similar to Iverson.But tim hardaway's UTEP-2STEP is harder to duplicate. I have only seen steve francis do it a couple of times.Most crossovers now are more about explosiveness and quickness now like Westbrook and Drose.But a true crossover "fools" the guy into going in one dircetion which is different from blowing by defender.

@ballers65 iverson is the king of "carry-ball" look how timmy does it compared to iverson and you will see the difference. The refs attempted to crack down on it for a few weeks YEARS ago, but that stopped quick smart because people pay to see iverson cross somebody, not get whistled for carrying. tim keeps his hand on top of the ball, iverson sometimes basically has his hands underneath when he crosses

In terms of technique Tim Hardaway's was better. D-rose relies more on his speed and explosiveness for it to work. I think the best one's have the timing and the rhythm right. D-wade is a good example of good timing and tecnique plus the raw athleticism. D-rose is so quick and explosive he just needs to change direction and not even a crossover.

Harper got shook but he did the right thing and let him go baseline. He got no help from the weakside though. No disrespect-- I think Hardaway had one of the sickest crossovers ever, but you notice 90% of the time he's go left to right? Yeah, thats his strong hand but very predictable. I still think D-Rose's xover is better. He crosses over both ways equally and in a variety of ways. Hardaway has the advantage in that he's got a lower center of gravity.
