Here's a complete broadcast (save for the opening few seconds) of the Tomorrow show with Tom Snyder as aired over WMAQ Channel 5, with the Windy City's own Irv Kupcinet and late-night talk radio hosts Long John Nebel and Candy Jones (then with WMCA 570 AM in New York) as his guests.
Includes:
Recording comes in as Tom introduces his guest and encapsulates on his long career, lists the "disparate" guests on a recent Kup's Show (including Juliet Prowse and Irwin Corey), and contrasts his own show with Kup's; topics range from the art of conversation and how each approaches it, to his status as a newspaper columnist, him in relation to his guests, book plugs, his longevity and national (PBS) distribution, how research aids in preparedness and how he prepares for a show, Tom's watching his show on WNYC Channel 31 in New York vs. Kup reading on Tom in People, Gerald Ford, and who he hadn't had on.
Commercials for:
1976 Plymouth Fury / Chrysler Plymouth Dealers - "See the Men Who Say Yes!"
Nelson Brothers "Aisle of Homes" (voiceover by Al Parker)
Bounce fabric softener
Tom gets more into Kup's role as a newspaper columnist (with Earl Wilson name-dropped), and his competing with other papers; how certain items get into papers; whether he's considered "newsworthy" in his own town; the surprises on his show and the murder of his daughter 11 years before and lack of resolution of the case, and regret in not hiring a private detective to look into it at the time.
Commercials for:
Bic lighters - "Flick your Bic"
Banquet frozen dinners - "Dad Makes Dinner"
"Barry Lyndon" (theatrical trailer for TV)
Beautymist panty hose - Lady tries to remember the name
Long John and Candy join, while he speaks of his early careers and how he got into radio on WOR 710 AM (from 1963 to 1972 he was on WNBC 660 AM, then sister to Chicago's late lamented WMAQ 670 AM), how as a photographer he once photographed Candy in her modeling days, she recounts how she transitioned into broadcasting (via NBC Monitor) and ultimately married Nebel, and Kup recounts his wife Essie's roles on his own show.
Commercials for:
General Electric Automatic Chef microwave oven at Polk Bros (not a Magic Chef, but close!)
Memorex - with Ella Fitzgerald breaking the glass - "Is it live, or is it Memorex?"
Chevy Dealers - with Susan Galey (sp?) and customer Bill Cook (sp?)
Long John gets into his long battle with cancer and how much a toll the treatment has taken on his energy (he would die of the disease about two years after this show), while Kup congratulates him on his still maintaining 72 hours a week on the radio; his dealing with interviews; Candy recounts when Dr. Frank Field (of WNBC Channel 4) was on, and Snyder's surname was mispronounced because of another similar-named guest; Nebel's examination of other cancer treatments, on and off the air; and Kup's and Nebel's comments about the FDA, cancer patients, and Red Dye #2.
Commercials for:
Brim decaffeinated coffee - "Do the Brim Twist" (with Chubby Checker knockoff)
Kleenex tissues - with Anita Bryant and Orange Juice coupon
Excedrin P.M. - "When you Have a Cold at Night"
Tom, Kup, Long John and Candy discuss the roles their shows play in helping society in whichever ways, and the means they do so, and how they operate when they're "on," and the pending "S.1" to recodify criminal codes in all 50 states.
Commercials for:
Lavoris mouthwash
Goldblatt's celebrates Sealy beds - 95th Anniversary Sale
Top Job liquid cleaner with "Mrs. T. Thurston" and breaking mops
Homer's Custom Furniture (background music: "Rondo A Go Go" by Andrew Arvin)
Tom previews next night's show on the 100 Best Commercials of 1975, then says good night while the closing credits run to accompaniment of The Beatles' "Good Night" (had to be partially muted manually to avoid a KZbin copyright block)
Promo slide for Police Woman and City of Angels (voiceover by John Clarke)
Incomplete commercial (for local Chicago company, maybe a bank?) - with "Our Way" jingle before recording is stopped
This aired on local Chicago TV early Tuesday, February 10th 1976 during the 12:00am to 1:00am timeframe.

This interview was about two years before Long John Nebel died. Candy Jones lived on to 1990. I was only a kid when their radio program aired, but I remember my dad talking about their program, because he was a night owl (still is in some ways!) and listened to them frequently. It's too bad that Tom Snyder is gone, too.

I remember watching some of Snyder's shows but I was young and didn't understand him. Heck I remember Dan Aykroyd doing a spoof of him on SNL. It was good to see this as an adult.

I grew up across the street from Long John Nebel and would often see him coming home from the show at 6:30AM in his Smith Limousine………

@blairvboyer Where in Manhattan was that, please? In what neighborhood did Long John and Candy live? In 1978, at the end of his life, he and Candy were separated, and he lived in a Manhattan hotel. He and Candy continued to co-host their WMCA 570 AM radio show despite the separation in their personal lives. His last radio appearance took place about a week before he died : April 1978.

When Long John was on WNBC 660 AM, some critics referred to its host network as "Nebel's Broadcasting Company." He occasionally did other shifts besides his own late at night, at least once in his last year there filling in for Don Imus on his "Imus in the Morning" show during one of the "I-Man's" drink- and drug-fueled and -related absences. Once Imus promoted Nebel's show by saying he'll "be here tonight [and] hang up on folks." I actually remember hearing Nebel and Jones' show in my youth, as I was trying to get to sleep for school in the morning.

Tom Snyder was a great presence on WNBC-TV in New York News Broadcasting as well on the Tomorrow Show. I remember when he was interviewing a Coca Cola executive about their new first ever plastic bottles which were said to be unbreakable. Snyder, seater, held up the quart-sized bottle and dropped it on the studio floor, wherein it burst on impact and sent a spayed Coke all over the studio, much to the delight of everyone , crew included, except the cola executive. Barely able to speak, Snyder cut to a commercial. My parents listened to Long John on WOR and wevery occasionally went to his flea market type auction house in nearby Pine Brook, NJ. Candy Jones , in terms of her era, was "quite a gal!" An intelligent woman, she was a perfect match for Neble.

Kup. So good on TV. His column was okay - but I was a kid back then - he had so many gossipy stories. He and Essie were a great Chicago couple! I so miss Tom Snyder! 📺❤️📺

For those who saw the Homer's Custom Furniture ad with the "Rondo A Go Go" music, those in the Boston area who will have seen this clip will no doubt recognize this as the music to sign on and off by at WGBH Channel 2 in Boston from at least 1970 if not earlier, to the end of the '80's.

When Stiller and Meara were making radio commercials for Blue Nun wine, another famous married couple, Peter Lind Hayes and Mary Healy, got a piece of the action by doing radio ads for Finnair. But as you say, it wasn't the same.
