This is a 9 minute segment from a March 1985 NBC Today Show feature on the Video Release of "Gone With The Wind". Due to concern about video piracy, VCA/Technicolor would not allow the report to name the actual company and location in Naperville, IL and an alias was used. Excellent Video for a 22 yr. old VHS tape transfer and you can check out Willard Scott, Tom Shales, John Palmer, Jane Pauley, Bryant Gumble and ABC GMA/WMAQ weatherman John Coleman as they appeared in 1985! That was nice of MGM/UA to do something good:fix the prologue by restoring the original dreamy Dixie song after 29 cassettes had to be destroyed and replaced with the correct track for $70.00 because of a labeling error.

Has to be 1985. That set was introduced in 1985. There's a video on YT that shows the debut of that set in 85.

Wow. 89.95 for a VHS! The official list price of the Blu Ray costs almost that much (although you can buy it for much cheaper on Amazon.) Wow.

From 4:46 to 6:05, they talked about the first press of this tape that was allegedly destroyed. Would anyone happen to have that tape? And don’t forget there were four formats around at that time, so it could easily be on Beta, laserdisc or videodisc too. I have a Beta from 2/16/85 and 2/19/85 (1 and 2), and that is the correct version. Hope someone has this!

This movie was on HBO Max for a while until it got pulled from the streaming service, because of racists depictions. I finally ordered the original 1985 VHS from eBay today, but I can’t wait for this movie to come in, so that I’m going to keep it in my collection.

I'm surprised to see those sync differences between the network feed and local VTR from an O&O station in 1985. Any idea who the WMAQ booth announcer is here? When did they finally replace the booth announcer with an on-camera weather forecaster for the local cut-ins?
