Ghosts are attachments to people...they come to the House, not with the House! LOL I am so impressed, although I want to wire-brush the beams and oil them, bring them to Life! Tons of oil is required for the walls and everything. That would be a Loving Chore!

Ahh, that house as it stands today is from 1669 in name only, the exterior Architecture is from the late 1700's to 1825.. Part of the INTERIOR may be original, the rest is post Revolution. I live in a neighborhood with four of these types, all built in the 19th C. in Gloucester, MA..including our own home.

My family which is the Bryant's came in to the Americas in Virginia in 1623 add to the Heritage records I wonder if they're linked now I got to start searching that out but I love the house

Why is this house only $800,000? Owner think twice! All that furniture alone you could sell for much more. I agree this should be treated as a historical home and protected.

I love it but I would be too scared to live in it. A) too constrained to modify it, with guilt. B) Would feel too responsible to maintain it as is. I now understanding its pricing. It could fetch a much higher price. But its priced not for the highest bidder but for the "Right" bidder. Someone who will be a responsible for maintaining it as is.

This is so badly filmed and she is terribly uninformed about the house and its details. Very sad. This should have been so much more informative. It's a beautiful historic home that's had lovely restoration work done. Thank you for sharing, I hope someone worthy purchases it. It would be a beautiful B&B.

I hate to be the party pooper, but Stephen Bryant didn't come over as a 5 year old on the Mayflower -- he came as a 15 year old on the ship The Handmaid in 1630, a decade after the Mayflower. Source: my exhaustive genealogical research (and the fact that there isn't a Bryant on the Mayflower's passenger list - TRUST ME, I looked!).

Just because a home is an antique doesn’t mean it holds historical value. Having a connection to a passenger on the Mayflower doesn’t automatically confer historical significance. What truly matters is what happened in the house and what, if any relevance it holds to our collective history. Historical and preservation societies provide grants and loans to homeowners to maintain their old homes, but they rarely own or operate them. You can donate an old home to them, but they’ll likely sell it and use the proceeds for other activities. Speaking from personal experience, antique homes cost a lot to maintain. No matter how well they’ve been kept, a 400-year-old wood frame requires constant repair. The amount of money needed to earn by opening it to the public wouldn’t outweigh the maintenance costs, especially since more traffic would only create more wear that needs to be fixed. It's a special kind of buyer who is ready and willing to take on that kind of responsibility, and those buyers are few and far between, which is why the home is priced at $800k. Don’t get me wrong, I love old homes, but they require a lot of work, and the “charm” can wear off quickly. This home will find the right buyer willing to take on the responsibility in exchange for the connection to the past these old homes provide. As for the antique furniture, rest assured those pieces are not part of the sale price. That bed alone is probably worth over $10k, but for the right buyer, it will make sense to keep it in the home.
