The cuffs are totally fake. Notice none of the judges were invited to inspect them. There's a tunnel that goes to the other side of the pipes. When the tv went down, wifey who was in on it created a distraction while he crawled to the other side of the pipes where a change of clothes were waiting for him and then he surreptitiously changed places with one of the diggers and then revealed himself haha. Given Simon's antics I'm guessing he was in on it and the whole show is staged not just the acts.

A twin is a distinct possibility. What makes you think the twin would be in any danger tho? It would be so easy to pump that box with air for a few hours until the crowd dispersed. Even if you didn't pump air into it, the air would last maybe an hour or even forever. It wasn't air tight and dirt was not completely covering every gap. i won't explain or ruin the simplicity of the trick, however the wife obviously knows the trick and ruins the whole effect. It's a cool trick that is very popular and has been used by many magicians. Even the best magician in the world has tactics, no one just does magic without logic. And his wife may or may not be part of his tactics, it doesn’t matter.
