As you can see, if you watch 4:26 at 0.25 speed, you'll see that he actually spawns the cards from the void into his other and and deletes them from his right hand instead of transferring them via wormhole, which was the other acceptable choice. You can see him actively using the spawn and destroy commands. Idk how he got access to cheats, but I want these commands too.

I remember reading an explanation that the cards are trick cards with foldable sides to make it look like a full deck when its only 1. The deck to me feels noticeably smaller after he pulls them out of the box.

@@taryth. yea it looks like there is a little flap on the single card in his right hand that folds out to look like a full deck. Still, the execution is phenomenal and I'm still not sure how the entire effect works. But I'm almost positive the fold out piece is how he does that part of it

I think he places it on the back of his right hand. Notice how he keeps his palm straight moving it back down towards his pockets. At the "vanishing point", the motion seems to point to the marker going over the top of his fingers on his right hand and falling right on the back. Maybe one side of the marker is sticky or something. Whatever it is, that's crazy timing and dexterity.

@@Shalnn I don't think so. The shot after it cuts to a different camera, but it's continuous, and you can see him move his hands out of that position and show the other sides. I've seen it at least 15 times now, and I am able to catch a few things here and there. I have an idea as to how some of the stuff is done based on some of the stuff that I have caught, which may be what Penn references to when he talks to Shin Lim about his performance, but the performance still blows me away even now. And even with the stuff that I have seen, as Penn himself said, I still have no idea how in the world Shin Lim vanished the marker, especially the second time he did it. He is truly one of the best magicians in the world right now, and I hope he does well on AGT this year!

After watching countless magician's acts on Fool Us, this one by Shin Lim is by far the one that captures that sense of mystery and awe of something truly unexplainable. While knowing that it is all merely slight of hand, there is a sense that perhaps some real magic was witnessed, even if for just a moment. Shin Lim is the true magician's magician.

I worked for two different illusionists as an assistant in my younger years, and still don’t know how they did some of their tricks. This man has a unique style, and a stage presence that commands attention without being brash. His introduction of smoke in such lovely subtle ways added more mystery to an already staggering routine. He deserves all the success the future will bring. Flawless ness does not come by whim...but by great dedication and work. He has clearly been paying his dues. Respect.🖤🇨🇦

@prime2d9582 жыл бұрын
The deck transfer trick at 3:38 - 4:40 is explainable. First he starts with a full deck and draws the autographed 7 out with his right hand (left on your screen) & twirls it to create a distraction, then with his left hand (right on your screen) he cuts the deck by hiding most of the deck in his red jacket (you can see him pushing the deck in with his fingers) as he does this he makes the deck appear like it was a full deck the whole time by using a trick card that is hollow on the inside & can compress and decompress to create the illusion the deck is full or not full. So at this point you think you see a full deck when really its about 1-3 real cards and one trick card that makes the deck appear full in its decompressed stage. Moving on, Then he puts his hand over the deck and compresses the trick card creating the illusion that the cards vanished when in reality there weren't any cards present (just air). Then with his right hand (left on your screen) he grabs a new deck & tucks the autographed 7 under the deck for some slight of hand he will do later whilst keeping the trick card in the opposite hand. Then he blows the trick card that's in his left hand (right on your screen) shakes it and releases pointer finger so the card can decompress & appear like a full deck, while also with his opposite hand he simultaneously tucks the deck he picked up earlier in his palm with slight of hand while revealing only the autographed 7 & making the deck appear to be flat. Creating the illusion he transferred decks in mid air without physics. He then puts the trick card back in the pile & once again decompresses it. Trick Done. The takeaway is this guy is legendary and has god like slight of hand. Even when you understand how he did the trick, it may take a lifetime to replicate it. If this were done in person I would of surly missed it, Meaning the Magic was achieved.

Now those guys are in an extremely difficult position. Because there are certain standards that most individual tricks are varriations of. An experienced pro will know all the standards and also the usual ways of making them into new tricks. So the pro will know a trick even if they don't see it. But as magicans they know also that this is wrong, that you can't know without seeing for with magic you cannot even know with seeing. This act consisted of many standards I guess from the reaction at 9:15. BUT! So yeah he did not fool them in any detail, but the overall effect was something they felt they could not easily explain or reproduce. I am sure as hell the marker was a standard well known and easily recognized by pros, so it was probably respect for the show, not for the single tricks. Still does not mean he did not fool them at all.

Just want to take a moment and express how the music (in film or any theater piece) is overlooked so much that adds to the performance. That music the whole time is just a complete build up to his final act. You can even hear it in the audience halfway through...they applaud shortly when expected, but they are there sitting on the edge of the their seats. Every single note, and every single movement of Mr. Lim is building up to the finale. His performance plus the music score is the package that makes this entire performance work.

“Yeah, but where’d the smoke come from?” GOB I’ve watched in amazement hours upon hours of magic. I’ve attempted to exhaust the magic available on KZbin. I have never seen anything come close to this guy!! Bravo sir! Bravo!

Just saw this. I could see most of his tricks, just watch his hands carefully and always. If he's right hand is hyper active, the trick is on the left.

Honestly, I feel like this collection of tricks, “the dream act”, is a performance that P&T were perfectly fine with being fooled by. The creativity, the execution, the presentation, were all amazing. Ever since I saw this, it lives in my head constantly. I don’t any other performances have done this. There’s never a trick that I’ve been like, “I will pay every cent I have to learn this”. I’ve used some aspects from this, such as breathing smoke, in my case vape, in my own tricks. I’ll get a spectator to pick a card, then tell them to write it on my vape, then hit it and when I exhale have the card come out as well. When I want to show someone what beautiful card magic, or hell even beautiful magic in general is, I show them this video. Not only was this an amazing trick, but also done so smoothly, and perfectly that it is the definition of beauty in magic. Not to mention the atmosphere he preforms in. Everything about this act was beautiful.

wait is it actually called the dream act? That would explain the Inception theme playing lol

The atmosphere is huge, he’s wearing red and black, and the red and black trippy movements behind him only add to his performance. I’ve seen better illusions but I don’t think I’ve seen a better performance.

I seen this years ago and was as astonished as everybody else. And the Hans Zimmer - Inception music works and fits in amazingly well with the magic he's doing. Completely Flawless.

I've read a few of slight of hand books and met some magicians at conventions that were super good and learned some cool stuff from them. When I watch Shin Lim though I can think of ways to do many of the tricks he does, but he does everything so smoothly that it's all just theory. I can't find any obvious palms or anything like that and all of his movements are so fluid. It's nuts.

This is the only magic performance I've ever seen that was so lyrical and moving that it brought a tear to my eye. Just beautiful. I used to buy tricks to learn how they were done and I've spent a lot of time reading about the craft of magic and card manipulation but with Shin Lim I don't even care how he does them all, even though I can tell some of it, because it's more rewarding to just sit back and let this artistry touch the soul.
@dfetz32 жыл бұрын
He’s not the best sleight of hand of all time, but this performance as a whole might be the best.
@tradewins2 жыл бұрын
@@dfetz3 I don't think there's any such thing as the best of all time with regard to this skill set (I could nominate a number of people for that title and make an argument for each - and see other people vehemently disagree ) but you and I would appear to agree that this performance is about as good as it gets.

This is one of my favorite acts ever. I'm not usually into card tricks, but as person, who loves sleight of hand tricks, it's so well done and without all of that talking and babbling. So beautiful and elegant.
