Videos like this drive me crazy. What was shown were three people, but very differently than it was explained. One was a woman who was willing to offer opinions on politics, who was too afraid to show her face because of how dangerous it is. Followed by Tatar women who were willing to be filmed, but would absolutely not discuss politics, and dutifully praised the leader and then another person who also avoided politics, but would be filmed, and also noted that he loved the leader. These are not honest opinions, these are people trying desperately to say the correct things while not offering opinions. This was not praise of Putin, as much as a belief that they are in danger if they don’t blame Putin. Notice how the older women knew how to play the game the best, because they lived in the Soviet Union

As an American who lives in Russia for many years already I can tell that the Russian society has really changed. And thats not about the economy or the quality of living. Those are basically the same as before 2022. The war also did not affect ordinary Russians much, outside of a few border regions, it feels like some far away foreign conflict, kind of like Vietnam was for the States. The main thing that changed is the mentality. A lot of liberal Russians have left the country and those people who are returning from the war, their families, friends and so on are very patriotic and pro-government. So I think any thoughts that there will be some pro-Western liberal changes in Russia in a foreseeable future are now just completely unrealistic.

Seriously how is this news, They did 3 interviews with these different people and this is the 6 minute edit we get ….seriously ? This is why people are sick of these networks , it’s not some right wing left wing culture war nonsense , it’s the fact that they don’t actually do real news work now . He talks about his journey to Kazan and how hard it is , more then they show interviews with the Tatar women for example. Like who cares ….many people travel for work , get over yourself . Show us the actual content of these conversations , it could be interesting for us as Americans to see what middle aged women in Tatarstan in Russia are up to , its people we don’t know about and it could be interesting . With the kid you kept all the parts talking about the injury to his father , though I’m sure there’s hours of footage of him talking about his life and his actual “voice” , you asking him probing questions about his recently deceased father was not what we need to hear Of all those “voices “ of Russia , the only one heard here was your own . its so evident from the hours and hours of footage you had, and the fact that THIS is the edit you made, this is more like a short film then any type of journalism, he montages through what would be the actual journalism, and does a voice over thats essentially reading a wikipedia page. For example instead of covering how his father died, you could have asked how Islam feels that the US in a way is funding the weapons that killed his father, and he seems to be pro putin but also wants to go to America, it would be interesting to hear what he says about that.....instead you just mention it as a factoid in a brief VO. I figure that you probably have that footage, but maybe that would maybe make it too sympathetic or nuanced for this black and white image you seem to like to promote. I am not even saying your perspective is wrong, but if your afraid of giving us the bigger context incase we make the wrong conclusions.... thats reasonable....but that means your not journalists. Journalists believe the world is better when the people have more information not less. Genuinely one of the most demonstrable examples of why and how the news doesn’t do news anymore.

this piece was never supposed to be a 45 mins documentary. The purpose is to take a snapshot of the Russia society. It is obvious that those Tartar women do not wish to dig too much into politics (bare in mind, that one risks several years of jail for a few "unfriendly " words towards Putin ), in the given context (Putin controls the society similarly as USSR), what do you expect Islam answer when questioned about the US weapons that killed his father. Do not forget, that similarly as under USSR, people do not truly assert one's opinions. Sometime, if you wish to progress in society, it is safer to show that you do back up Putin. It is extremely easy (& becoming the norm ) to jump on one's keyboard to criticise before taking a few more moments to analyse the situation a bit more in depth

If you want to show the honest opinion of Russians on this conflict, then just stand at the entrance to the metro in any city in Russia and continuously show what they will answer live. But you'll never do that, right? You are paid not for honest point of view, but for the narratives about Russia that you promote in the West. As you have already understood, being in Russia, we do not care about your opinion, the opinion of your channel and the West as a whole. You don't know anything about Russia and the people who live in this country. But I have one question for you: you work in Russia, you ask the President of Russia questions live and he answers you. Why can't the journalists from Russia interview the leadership of your country? Of course, Biden and Putin are politicians of different caliber. But is Biden so stupid that he can't answer a few questions from the Russian journalists? By the way, I am sure you remember how Putin in 2021 offered Biden to hold a live debate, but he refused.

You can be a Russian as you like, as long as you leave other countries alone. With Ukraine Putin has made the mistake of his life, and now he is dragging the of you with him.
@andreivaughn14685 күн бұрын
@@European-antinazi There were many people in Ukraine who did not support and had no say in the 2014 coup. Their government they voted for was overthrown, their constitution was changed, by ukrainian extremists - in a country where the majority of people had no issue with Russia, suddenly you had to hate Russia or you were a bad guy. I should ask the western interests to leave countries alone, they're very good at instigating coups and revolutions - average citizens and workers cannot take weeks/months out of their life to protest on the streets, they don't have the money or the willpower to do it, unless they get external funding. Do you honestly think people are that stupid.

He's coming at this from a Western perspective. As in "human life matters"...In the states when we lose 1 or 2 soldiers overseas there's a big investigation. They want to find out what happened. Why they got hit. Who hit them. Was it our incompetence or the enemy being good? We don't throw tens of thousands of our people into meat charges across frozen fields to capture demolished villages or bombed out factories. It's against our values to treat human beings as cannon fodder. That's where Simmons is coming from. So no, he's not neutral.

I am Russian, and like the citizens of any other country, I consider my country and my people to be the best. I support everything that is done for the benefit of my country and my people. If among my compatriots there are those who think otherwise, then, as with citizens of any other country, they are my enemies and traitors to the homeland. Yes, I have questions for the authorities, but I will resolve them in my own country, without the involvement of citizens from other countries and without their sappy opinions. By the way, one of these questions is the lack of economic prosperity in my homeland, caused by the unfair distribution of global resources and various attempts to hinder it by other countries, especially one specific country-the USA. Do you want me to be your slave? Congratulations. I want the opposite, and I will demand it from the authorities of my country. So, how about that? Do you still believe that our grievances against Putin and the Russian government are the same?

No...on one side inflation and interest rates are high...at the same time unemployment is less than 2%, poverty less than 9%, industrial capacity has doubled,the economy has become one of the fastest growing in Europe,GDP per PPP has risen to 43k,local industries have replaced foreign ones & their trade is off dollar dependence due to trade.....all what I've stated you can find on the world banks report.... sanctions have really hurt Russia but also forced it to develop local industries
@1imesub8 күн бұрын
@@Eldagaitaofficial Unemployment is low because so many Russians have been sent to die in Ukraine. Russia will be facing a manpower shortage for decades and the vast majority of Russians do live in poverty, which will only get worse with rising inflation.

Otherwise, Ukraine will be controlled by NATO and the West (like Germany has been with American bases for 80 years) Guy’s just a geopolitics. Why are you such hypocrites or are you so young that you haven’t done your history homework yet (you don’t even need to be a geostrategist like Henry Kissinger). All large countries have local interests of influence... The USA has Canada and Mexico on its border (not to mention 800 bases across the planet, I’m surprised that there is no military base on the moon yet🤪) Russia has a geopolitical interest in all its border states, but they are already almost all under the hood of NATO, except for Ukraine/Belarus/Kazakhstan/Mongolia/N.Korea and, for now, Georgia...And so the question is, the Americans and Donald Trump will agree to Russian bases in Canada and Chinese in Mexico, then Russia and China will not be against American bases in Ukraine and Taiwan?!? (hypothetically, just to understand the situation).
