I am thinking the United States was able too support itself in very good style without borrowing money for most of its life simply by what the tax payers and money it got from fees. Or so I heard on a News cast with the Republican Speaker of the House who is trying too get the Democrats too curb in their out of control spending. It could be they have borrowed at times over the past 247 years but he did say they have been raising the Dept ceiling every year for the past 20 years if I understood and remember correctly.
