Has anyone ever contacted you to apologise for the bullying? I was once suddenly subjected to a bullying campaign of total ostracism by about half my workmates (and another 25% that would ignore me in public and say hi in private). It went on for an average of about 6-9 months with most of them, a year for the core group. (The guys from IT jokingly called me the axe murderer, since they said, “You must have done something really terrible!”) Not one of my colleagues ever had the integrity to tell me what it was about. Although they did once send an accidental reply-all with a whole chained conversation in it where they complained that my working class accent was “common” and so why I was piloting new processes(!) Later my managers blurted out that they were perfectly well aware of it but “I didn’t look upset about it.” In other words, bullying that does not publicly succeed is not a problem! It was stressful, but I was a mature age, secure in myself, and did have convivial colleagues too, and a couple of good friends there. And objectively (we had a lot of objective quality control) I was better at the job than any of the bullies. It is quite weird to be bullied for the very first time in middle age! Just after I left (still technically employed but using up leave) my father suddenly passed away (in another town), and they sent a huge bouquet of flowers to my house. The one who placed the order was one of the public-blank, private-hi group. My friends correctly assumed it would not be appreciated, and told them that, but they sent it anyway. I never knew what the thinking was behind that. To make themselves feel better?

MENTAL HEALTH AND BULLYING - My brother was handicapped and bullied every day in school. I lived with him and witnessed what it did to him. He had a heart condition on top of looking different. He was a straight A student. He was a kind soul and I always gave him support at home. It changed my life, and I know that adults and children can be vicious from being bullied. Everything that happened here in this historical day is about “bullying.” Kids are not born vicious, they are taught through their home life sometimes, parents, their environment, bullies at school, and teachers that do nothing about it. Our schools need to change - BULLIES NEED TO BE EXPELLED FROM SCHOOLS. This is a "mental health issue" in our schools. I went back to college for a second time for literature. I am writing a novel about how kids should treat each other, and their environment. I hope I can make a difference - even if it is a small difference!

Bullied kids often feels like a 'nobody' and got low self estime. Most would never do anything, but a very few would try to do something to make them 'famous', make them be 'somebody', by hurting or killing a well known person. 'You who bullied me, look at me, I am a dangerous man, I am a well known person now, may name is all over the media!!' Time will show if there was anything political into this, but possible more likely it was just about Trump being a well known, famous figure, and he happened to visit nearby

"You know how kids are these days"... and then describes how kids have acted towards "outcasts" in class for **decades**. This is identical to what classmates said about school shooters back in the 90s, for example.
@John-oe5nb3 ай бұрын
My wife was a head secretary of an elementary school. You could go into any classroom and ask the teachers who the problem kids were. They could point out every one of them. They get through one grade and on to the next. Go into the classroom and ask the teachers who the problem kids are and they are the same ones. Call the parents in and immediately you can see where the problems originate. This is where the main problem is, but what to do about it? How much can society interfer in a family? On the outside everybody can see what is going on, but there is nothing that can be done unless it gets really bad and then it is too late. It is too bad that the troubled kids can't get the help they need while they are still able to be corrected. This applies to the bullied as well as the bullies.

I experienced severe bullying for two years when I was in junior high school. And many teachers also participated in the bullying and laughed at me. Now they live normal lives and I have to face these dark and painful memories every day. So I can definitely sympathize with why someone who has been bullied would want to give back to society in some way.

That's sad. 🥺 Kids can be sooo cruel. What really sucks is that even if other kids who witnessed the bullying (like the kid interviewed here) were to have approached him and sat with him during lunches or breaks, those kids then become targets for bullies as well, in effect making the victim that much more of a "loner" at school. 😔 I was bullied on a fairly regular basis throughout elementary school, junior high and even at the start of high school. I can tell you it really sucks and it's really stressful and it creates lifelong depressive and anxiety disorders; at least for me it did. And kids today have it sooo much worse now with internet and social media; I can't even imagine being a kid in school in today's world. 😣💔

I dealt with this as a kid and can say I was oblivious and vulnerable to people pretending to be my friends and showing otherwise. My question is how was he driven and contacted to do something like this? I never in all the horrible things I’ve gone through and the trauma I have, would it have ever crossed my mind. I definitely do think it’s possible targeting though when I was on social media in highschool you would be surprised the amount of extremist things that were pushed, it’s why I got off of it entirely and tried to learn and make my own opinions what’s crazy is so many people accepted it back then and now it’s a back and forward thing. What’s sad and tiring is staff and teachers often are aware of things other students do but never do anything about it. As an adult I feel like I’m catching up on lost childhood years due to all the bs growing up, and then my young adult years as well not doing what others my age do. Something is definitely missing in this picture though, while bullying can show where his head was at and maybe that he was easily influenced or emotionally vulnerable it doesn’t explain the motive behind why this happened.
