St. Louis, Missouri is experiencing record rainfall, an amount that has not been seen in over a century, causing deadly flooding. Rescuers are scrambling and getting people from rooftops and cars. Authorities confirmed that one person trapped in their car has died. Scientists say the extreme heat supports more intense rainfall, which causes flash floods to become more frequent. More rain is forecast for tomorrow.

@@justdrive5327 We have more frequent tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in the Chicagoland area and even in the city. Also beach errosion along Lake Michigan (some areas it's threatening lakefront homes) and less frequent rainfall but when it does rain it comes in the form of heavy downpours. No area is immune from the effects of climate change.

This is so true! My Dad and I were talking about it a few months ago. Unfortunately, there are a few issues that can come up: 1. having to deal with owners of private properties 2. having adequate funding. If it were possible an underwater tunnel system could be put in place; something similar to Japan's 'underground temple' which is truly remarkable. I don't know much about gas & oil pipelines but a system similar to it could be put in place, and as a start, these systems could be put in places that are prone to flooding.

If the water networks works properly, all of that excess water from rain and snow could have been diverted westward to refill lakes and supply for farms. We have flooding and blizzards in the east, and droughts and fires in the west. Move the excess water west and put out the fire.
