What he did do was cut regulation on businesses, give the wealthiest Americans the largest tax cut ever, and continued this idea that trickle down economics work for the middle class, when in reality, the rich get richer, and the poor get poor like this. The rich are doing great, they don't need tax cuts. The middle class and poor does, and the rich should pay for those tax cuts. That's not at all Trumps plan. Tarrifs are his plan, and those are a regressive tax that hurt the poor and middle class the most. Remove the politics from the equation, his economic plan does not do anything to help the majority of the middle class, they only hurt them.
