The swivel you have on the end of your chain, crunch proof or other is a drowner lock, run wire through J hook hole!

That swivel hole on the end of the chain is more than a swivel. It is a drowner lock. It's all I have ever used. It works fine. Since 74.

I am sure that you understand that your swivel is a slide lock by itself. Just run the wire through where the j hook would go or the hole you have your snare lock wired.

Yes, and i should have said that in the video, the slide wire I was using was to small for that lock and i wanted to show it hold...

Another good video. Two thumbs up. I use that universal swivel and short chain for beaver and otter, I use 3/16" cable 10' long with loops on both ends (to anchor to what ever you prefer) already set up. Time is money so I stopped using snare cable and #9 wire years ago and went to this set up. Give it a try. "Tight Chain"

good stuff as always ... but I personally would never use a piece of wire as a drowning rig ... any beaver or otter will pull a wire out of the mud and be waiting for you on shore when you get there - OR - twist a leg off in the trap because it didn't drown. I would only use cable and a heavy weight or rebar stuck 2' into the mud on the bottom.
