Thanks Chris, your advice was very helpful to help me replace my 2005 Jazz belt - my wife drove home in it and reported a terrible noise form the engine, but intermittent depending on what gear, which led me to the shredded but still just intact belt . Mine, being so old (180,000 miles - the Honda engines really are bullet proof!!! ) the plastic underbody retaining clips were a nuisance being so old, but I already had spares 👍. ''Knocking'' the Alternator to move it into the engine was vey clever of you, to loosen the belt run (to refit the new belt over all the pulleys) was a struggle - I didn't move it enough, to knock and loosen it first time round, but it fitted easily second go.... Then, I had to use my Crowbar to lever the Alternator back to 'normal' position. All then adjusted and working fine - £19 for a new Bosch belt, but Continental do same at CarParts4less too, similar price. Took me a while first time, but I reckon I could do the whole job in an hour... next time...😊 All good Chris!

Nice video. Thanks for posting. It helped me a lot. When I came to pulling the pulley back on, I found it easy with the wheel off. Then-while literally hugging the car-I could reach under the pulley with my left hand to hold the pulley in position while turning in the nut from the top with my right hand. Just thought I'd share that tip. I have big hands and couldn't fit the nut from the top, due to not enough room.

Now I know how to give it a bit more tension as it is quite noisy. My belt was changed recently but it started making noise when putting air con on wile engine is cold. Thank you for the video

This appears the same as my wife's 08 Honda fit. I found another video on KZbin that is completely wrong, showing a spring tensioner (which the 08 doesn't have). I believe her 2013 fit did though. Thank you though, she's just passed 120k so it's definitely time. I know what I'm doing Thursday 🔧

Hello. Thanks for your video. I think you should have untightened the bolt at the back of the alternator, below. It would have made it much easier. What belt size did you use?

No problem, but I no longer have this car!

Yes , the Jazz have two spark plugs per clinder and two coils (one towards the front and one at the back ) , wich is common for small cars for more efficient work.

Great job well past my OLDIE skills I was puzzled why you marked things because NO timing is involved. Is that true ?
@belmsim5454 Жыл бұрын
It's to get the tension right for the belt. Too loose and the belt will slip and not drive the auxiliaries. Too tight will strain the belt and lead to early failure.
@phgu Жыл бұрын
@@belmsim5454 Yeah, but the belt could be longer/shorter then the old one, so you really need to tension it accordingly.
@SileDevil Жыл бұрын
@@phguhow do i know how tense should it be? if i mark the bolts and tighten it like the okd one isnt okay? i mean the old one was also tight when first miunted in theory

Why is timing not involved in Honda Jazz
@ChrisTheCarBuilder Жыл бұрын
This is an auxiliary belt change, not a timing belt mate! Timing belt times the camshafts, the crankshaft and the water pump. The auxiliary belt isn't timed, and runs things like A/C pump, PAS pump and alternator
@ForrestOutman8 ай бұрын
@chibuike9395 It has a timing chain, ⛓️ not a belt.. WAY better!!
